2019 NASCAR thread

My kiddo's (7) been begging to watch Days of Thunder all week. I finally relented after telling him there was gross smoochin' and plenty of words he can't repeat. It is now his favorite movie.

 

We are finally at a point we can show our kids all the great movies that we grew up watching.

 

I have a bootleg copy I've not tried to watch yet.

 

I've accumulated several racing movies over the years. I want to time it right to share with the racing kiddo.

Greased Lighting (Richard Pryor film based on Wendell Scott, filmed nearby at a few now-closed tracks)
Heart Like a Wheel (Shirley Muldowney movie from the 80s)

I know its not nascar... and it was several years ago... but i just barely came across the Dan Weldon accident video..

That was hard to watch

 

Many of the replays that existed edited out the original, and most savage details. It was disgusting. The car slides to a stop, what's left of his head in what's left of the helmet slumps, and blood starts spraying out of the cockpit. It was gruesome. Few things have shaken me as much as watching that happen live on tv.

 

I haven't seen that version. Sounds gruesome.

 

Im not a easily bothered person emotionally... but it was hard to keep my face dry during the 5 lap salute

 

I'm planning on going to at least one Martinsville race and the Southern 500 this year.

Meanwhile the 41 team is busy building 38 cars! LOL... Maybe 40 so he can crash one or two in practice.

Johnny Sauter our at GMS, reportedly paving the way for defending champ Brett Moffitt to take his ride.

And here I thought Hatori did Moffitt dirty by firing him after he won them a championship to put in a guy (Austin Hill... who?) with sponsorship. At least they gave him time to find a ride...

 

Smart move. Sauter, like Crafton has peaked. Still, Moffitt’s driving style is very similar to Sauter’s style.

 

Another case of what have you done for me lately.

I'm saying, Sauter isn't going to improve. Still, I consider him the top guy in the truck racing field. Moffitt proved to be equally if not better this year and his driving services can probably be had for a far lower price than Sauter.

 

There are alot of hotdogs in that paint scheme.
