I have a 2019 Tacoma that feels like the engine is power surging around 4,000 rpm. Is there a TSB for this? hopefully, a reflash? I talk to the dealership they said they have to diagnose it and give me a quote. I also have the platinum plan on the truck so wouldn't all repair be cover under the warranty?

Every 2016-up 3.5l auto (manual too?) Tacoma does this, it has to do with the Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) activating around that RPM range. TSB's 0058-18 and 0062-18 provided an ECU update that reportedly helped some, but your 2019 is likely running those software versions already.

Mine does the surge between 3900 and 4200 RPM. It is really noticeable if I am at 70-100% throttle in 2nd gear, when accelerating to a highway speed.

It bothered me at first, but now I know it is there and...well, its one of those quirks I don't mind all that much.

The power delivery of the 3.5l is wonky for sure

Honestly, I don't know if I have the rear diff whine. Sometimes I hear a whine-like sound at 29-35 mph, but not always. Most get it around 55mph. What is your experience?

it is very wonky coming from a V8 to the 4.0L to the 3.5l, but i do enjoy the MPG.

Around 55-60 so far. it's like a low whine when you let off the gas.

There is a thread somewhere called the four grand power band. Do a search.

I found that thread. It was helpful in understanding the power band. I was also under the impression that they had made the power band more smooth clearly, I was mistaken.

Here's the link to the TSB on the rear-diff whine, straight from NHTSA's website (in case Toyota wonders how you got it). Again, your 2019 doesn't fall within the range of vehicles affected, but sounds like it applies to your vehicle.

Sometimes the TSB's don't catch all the affected VINs. Experienced that as a Ford tech, working on a Fusion with a very common engine code that the TSB did not apply to by VIN - but still fixed it

I'm hoping they will still do this. My 2019 was one of the first out. Bought in November. Its already got close to 10k

This truck does all kinds of wonky stuff. The engine I think retards timing when you really step into. Maybe that's part of the surge issue? Then of course there is shuttering when slowing down from 30 mph (happens intermittently) , the sensations of the clutch slipping when accelerating hard from a stop. I just accept it all and try to focus on the positives of the truck (if I can find them...). I find it most happy when its' driven as mellow as possible.

More HP only with more RPM. It’s never the other way around.

I normally drive pretty mello. The biggest upside to this truck is I’m getting 20mpg with my tent on the truck with 700LBs over weight. Plus the interior is much better over my 2011
