It's nice but for me it's too far a cosmetic departure from what they originally were which was the small boxy trucky suv available with mt. More room in back, they had the rear swing door and you sit a bit higher.

Everything is migrating to that same crossover car look, they all look the same.

Toyota/Lexus has some ugly ass Grille's here lately, although I do think the Rav4 Grille looks good cause it resembles the Tacoma.

In one iteration I see 4Runner in the nose, in the other I see Tacoma.

I'd like to see what it actually looks like in person as the photos in the article (save the one auto show...I suppose I could do some googling) look so heavily processed they almost look fake. The area around the tires is especially bad.

Regardless, it's a dramatic improvement over the current mode in looks in my eyes. When the wife and I were looking for a family car the RAV was on our list but neither of us could get past the looks. We didn't find it ugly, but it just didn't catch either of our eyes. I equated it to the girl in high school that would make a great girlfriend, but there was just no spark.

Granted, that could also be said for the CR-V and Forester at the time. We loved our CX-5 for the 8 months we had it before it got totaled. The funny thing is now I feel like Mazda has taken a step back in the looks department with the tiny headlights, Honda's CR-V has gotten significantly more attractive and now Toyota is stepping up. Subaru continues to cater to it's target market, people in VT and my Mom, who absolutely loves hers.

Have you driven in one recently?

My new subi drives great. I actually like the CVT. It was a massive improvement over the 16 taco shittronic auto

    Am I your mother!?

The only thing I wish my Outback had is more aggressive looks. The new Crosstreks are better in that regard and I considered them but I wanted the space and the refinement you get with the Outback.

I enjoy driving again and for now it does what I need a vehicle to do. I'll consider a truck in 5-8 years. Maybe Toyota will figure it out

The Forester is great, tons of visibility, amazing AWD, just too Mom-ish for me.

I do like the large moonroof tho. I will agree that the CVT isn’t bad in the Subaru, especially compared to the one in her 2012 Rogue which she despised.

If they really want to blow minds, they should do a “RAV4 - TRD Pro”, with supercharger, fox shocks, etc. That would be the Camry from hell.

That spare tire location caused lots of additional damage to the door instead of the bumper.

I think the tundra is on pace for a redesign in 2041.

Toyota might be thinking if the wheel isn’t broke, why fix it.

I can dig it. It's the first RAV4 I've liked and my wife has been talking about getting a new car and really likes it. We shall see...

    Absolutely this.

Toyota, and Honda both went through a boring period that lasted way to long. I was working at a Honda dealership when the “long awaited” 2012 civic arrived on the scene. It was like a step backwards, after how groundbreaking the 2006 had been. They quickly did a “refresh” a year later. Now, I think some of the new Honda styling is a bit too busy. Good overall looks, but I was behind a civic si the other day, so much going on in the rear bumper, etc...

Toyota is showing more restraint, and doing a great job with the new aggressive styling, instead of looking like a 16 year old working at autozone designed them.

Can’t wait to see it with sliders and a winch bumper.
