Looks way cooler than my 2013 did but still tiny underpowered engine, and now overpriced.

2019 RAV4 looked great so we bought LE AWD. It got a lot of new safety features: Sensing 2.0 is pretty awesome

Stumbled across this thread...I own a new 2019 RAV4 Adventure (also have a 2012 Tacoma, which is why I have an account here)...some thoughts...

Yeah, the front end is definitely based on the Taco...and I like it...this gen RAV4 is a huge aesthetic upgrade over the previous gen. Compared to a Tacoma V6, I get that the common comment around here is "underpowered"...this a truck forum, so no surprise there...but for what the RAV4 is, the new 2.5L engine does pretty well. Doesn't have the same power as my Tacoma, but it's not exactly anemic either, I don't really ever feel it lacking...is a very nice drive on the highway. The traditional 8 auto speed transmission is great and performs well, was thankful Toyota didn't drop a CVT in it.

Of course the "Adventure" model is the only trim level to have the Tacoma-clone grill...other trims have a slightly different looking front end...but that's probably why I liked the Adventure the best. There's also a "TRD Pro" edition coming for MY 2020, which will have similar Tacoma-esque stying.

I just wish it still was available with the V-6...like my 09 Sport had.

RAV4 is Toyota's top selling model (and the best selling non-truck in the US for 2018)...they're gonna have quite a bit of variety. $25K for base model LE...$37K for the loaded Limited model

Technically compared to what Toyota has done to the Taco, the RAV4 IS interesting. 40mpg? Interesting. A new facelift on a Taco that's not not remotely as reliable as it used to be, as it should be? Arguably the RAV4, Colorado, Ranger... are all more interesting. :crapstorm:

Yeah, I got that, and yeah, it's apples and oranges...was just saying that $37K is only the very high end of the spectrum...

Feel like it's a bit apples and oranges as well...Sorento SXL is a 3rd row mid-size (closer to the Highlander) that runs $10K higher new than the RAV. Great vehicle perhaps...just saying it's not necessarily a fair comparison.

It looks like "dang that's a Rav4? Where's the soccer mom's car?" Could give some comp to those who Dont like all the new big tacomas and want something smaller. Or to compete w Jeep. As far as hardcore offroaders or outdoorsmen idk how this will compete. My old Rav4 was good as a city car pretty much. Weak clearance and engine.

To sum up I like it. Gg Toyota.

Care to elaborate? Thinking of getting the missus one but I can't get past the front grille. On the fence about this.

I'm a high schooler still living with my parents. I wanted for her to get a 4Runner, but they were obsessed with the Rav... that's all. Great Toyota quality.
