2019 Rear Bumper, Not so tuff

Need info on after market rear bumpers.
Today while backing into a space at the local market I did not see the light pole base and hit it with the right passenger corner of my back bumper at a speed of say 1mph. The impact was enough to crack the fine plastic bumper and break it off, at the same because the bumper is attached to the bed it put a nice little crease in the body side of the bed just in front of the tail light.

I cant believe this was designed this way, would not the bumper be tied into the chassis some how, What happed to the 5mph bumper of the past? this light hit created a lot of damage for what it was and I'm in disbelief.

Is there an after market bumper that isn't too radical to replace the stock bumper? One that may afford better impact resistance and doesn't connect directly to the bed.
