From my research and purchase, 10% off sticker is what you should be shooting for

I think this is fair. I paid 31,500 out the door for my 2107 SR5. Same wheels and MGM, too.

I’d call other dealerships and tell them you are going to buy this week and want their rock bottom price (saying you’ll buy from the dealership with the lowest offer). Then once you get a few decent offers, go to the dealership you want and haggle. They are more likely to come down if you have other firm offers ... at least that’s what I found.

I also got my dealership to throw in a tonneau cover. And Predator steps. I wish I also asked for the bed mat.

    Good luck!

I’m amazed at how much the MSRP has ballooned on Tacomas since I bought mine (new), first month of release. I paid $30,180 for my TRD Sport. And yes it’s 2WD and yes I know I don’t have TSS, etc.

    I paid 31,500 for my 2019 4WD SR5 DCLB. OTD was 34,000.

Be mindful that the dealerships “rock bottom price” might be best for the dealership not the buyer. Do your research first. Knowledge is power.

Go slow, call or visit different dealers in a 50-100 mile radius, You will be surprised how they can wheel and deal with you. I found the lowest price for my truck and then told my local dealer and he matched the price. Good Luck

31-32K for a V6/Auto DCSB SR5 4X4 (before rebates, trade-in and TTL). It appears the truck you are looking at has port and or dealer installed accessories. An MSRP of 38K is really high for an SR5. That is OR/Sport territory.
Go to toyota.com, build the truck you want and then do a search inventory. See if you get any hits.

FWIW, that SR5 looks fully loaded: 4WD, predator steps ($650), mudguards ($130), badge blackout overlays (~$200), Black wheels, TRD shifter, etc., etc.

Still, I wouldn’t pay $36,000 for an SR5 with cloth seats. For a similar price a TRD Off-Road will add a rear locker, Bilstein shocks, crawl control and a few more goodies.

Predator steps, mudguards, overlays and a TRD shifter can all be added later.

If by sticker you mean Toyota MSRP on the exact vehicle then yup. If you mean dealer's crap sticker price then no. Just want to make sure we're not comparing apples and oranges.

    Paid 30,100 before tax/tags in 2018 on a 2017 4x4 SR5.

With the add ins on this truck I'd say the very best you will get it before tax/tag is $30,500 but you will absolutely have to work for that (multiple dealers involved, playing them against each other, very involved at least week long process) but if you get a dealer to $31,000 relatively quickly you should probably take it. Just depends how much you want to work on getting the deal. If you email 50 dealers you'll only get about 10 who are seriously playing ball. Their initial offers should come in between 31,750-32,500. Go to work on those dealers and you'll end up in that 30k-31k area.

Tell em you have a trade in as well. I had my deposit in on my truck before I was ever at the dealer, wasn't predicated upon a trade but it was their belief I was going to be trading in a corolla so I'm fairly certain they were willing to come down a little based on the fact they could be able to make up some on the trade. It's a little shady but I always phrased it "I'll most likely be trading in my corolla."

Never forget stuff 'thrown in' means you paid too much for the vehicle. Nothing is free.

very important...the dealer is never "doing you a favor" and you're never getting "something no one else has ever gotten."

Yes MSRP is what I was referring to. When purchasing my truck, I did it 100% via emails (not one phone call made), gaming 4 different dealers against each other, including one out of state on the exact truck I was after. With one dealer we agreed to a price, and that’s when I said sweeten the deal by adding some port installed accessories onto the truck. Once they added all those elements and kept the price the same, I said now strip all that added stuff, and remove the cost off the figure we agreed to. That’s how I got the truck to 10% off MSRP :rasta:

The whole ordeal took about 4wks to complete. Also there was never a deposit made, the only time financial transactions took place was when I went in to pick up the truck.

spitting image of my experience man, thanks for sharing. The only phone call I had was to give my deposit, all done through email.

I started with 30 dealers within 200 miles, sent out the email specifying exactly what I wanted. Within 24 hours I was down to 8 by eliminating any really high offers, any pushy "let's set an appointment up", as well as dealers who offered me a different truck than what I wanted. Within about 5 days I was down to 4. My process took about 10 days, in the end the dealer who I bought from actually got the vehicle I wanted from a dealer who was also in my final four. All of my final ones were all within 300 bucks of each other so I naturally went with the lowest price but the decision was made easier by the fact that the low dealer was the dealer who was least salesy and the most upfront with a good offer almost right out of the shoot.

Same deal... I told them no phone calls when filling out their on line forums. Try to get a OTD price, dealers around here asked me to call and then I would move onto the next dealer. Keep chipping away.
