I’ve found that my backup camera is basically useless in daylight. No matter what angle I look at it from, the glare is so intense that it is not usable. My truck is a ‘19 Toyo Taco TRD 4x4 O/R Sport and is white. Is the cam issue due to design or is it because of some issue with the daylight and the truck being white? Anyone else encounter this or know what to do about it? Thanks!

    Welcome to TW!

My truck is black. Never had issues with my rearview cam. The only time when it can be a bit blurry is when its raining, otherwise it works great.

    Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. Try cutting a hole in a dark piece of paper for the camera (think football players with black under their eyes) and tape it to the tailgate. That should tell you if it’s because of it being white.

My white 2017 Off Road camera is very clear, slightly blurry during rainy days.

The image on the screen is good, it just can’t be seen unless I’m backing out of my garage. As soon as I’m out of the garage and into daylight, the screen literally disappears in the glare. Thanks for all of the feedback. I’m gonna experiment with what I have here in this thread. Thanks again all!

Mine, too, but mostly in the mornings when the sun is behind me. And for reference, my Tackma is black.

What annoys me more is how much better my wife's camera is in her Highlander. Her's looks amazing and the guidelines turn when you turn the steering wheel.

Yeah as much as I love my Tacoma, my daughter’s Escape and my Wife’s Sportage both have far superior cameras. The design on mine strikes me as odd as the camera points seemingly directly downward whereas theirs and my Ram all face outward as you’d expect. I just hope to find some solution to it as it is annoying at best.
