Just picked up a brand new ‘19 Tacoma with the rare 6 speed. My first new vehicle and I honestly think it’s the best decision, I’ve made vehicle wise. Can’t wait to modify it. Thoughts? Opinions? I’ll answer any questions.

Drive it, Enjoy it first before doing the mods are you going off road with it? if so how far off road you going? you will find a lot of Mods are more the "I want it" than really needed because that truck does have great abilities built in. The Modify bug can be very nasty and end up piling on a lot of stuff that looks great but not needed. :spending: I always drive first then see what I should of had that would have made it better for the situation that I went thru.

The only trucks offered in the U.S. with the MT are the Tacoma and the Ram Cummins. Both great trucks, Hope they keep offering manuals for those who want the mansmission. Nothing against automatics but if you can drive a manual why wouldn’t you. I plan on leaving it stock for about a year, cause no one is going to want to buy the stock wheel set up. Possibly going for a 4” lift and 33’s later on.

About fifteen days ago I received a letter from my selling dealer making me a cash offer(22500) for my 2016 TRD Sport, +1000 incentive from Toyota + 850.00 from the dealer. My taco has only 17000 mi. It is an Automatic. I thought this may be by chance to get a 6sp. I contacted five dealers in the Dallas /Fort Worth Area. My request was for a 2019 TRD Sport two wheel Dr. manuel Trans. I was told by one dealer "there will be
Manuel Trans TRD sports built" to sorry we don't have any, to would I consider selling mine to them? So what is the truth ? no one offered to Order me one, or even look for it. The Toyota incentive expired 2/28

While I see your point, I can tell you that this truck (and my last 2nd gen Tacoma) were the first automatics I have ever owned.. Coming from the VW/Audi scene, and all of them modified, I would have never even considered an auto. While I used to drive my buddy's 1st gen Tacoma in high school as well as his 1st gen 4Runner "woods truck" I can honestly say I am glad to have the auto.. Sure the manual may be more fun sometimes on the road, but being new to wheeling I am glad to have the auto. Also, traffic can be a pain since my left knee had major reconstructive surgery a while back. Certain weather conditions causes my knee to be uncomfortable.. I do miss driving a manual though on occasion.

I can second the "drive it and figure out what mods you need" mentality.. I put new tires on my truck as the first real mod, and went with a group of guys on some trail riding. In the North East the trails can get rocky pretty fast.. Even the easy trails. I decided my first mods will be sliders and skid plates. I ordered a full set of skid plates from SOS Concepts, and their bolt on sliders as well.. Waiting for them to ship. Once those are installed I'll be more comfortable about heading out on the trails. After that I may do a small lift, but I don't see that in the near future.. It is pretty capable stock!

Well, going back to when I ordered mine with the MT, I got the confirmation that Toyota had accepted the build and that it was “in line”, 4 months late it was still “in line”, so I ended up with the same truck, only with the auto. Im at 116k miles now and no complaints. I mod’ed around the crap that bothered me. The dealer even after 6 months, my order was still “in line”. They did a dealer to dealer thing to a dealer in CO when it finally came out. They never told me when that was, but it was longer than 6 months...

The 1,000 is still valid. Look up Toyota incentives. Also, you can find a truck. Use cars.com and other sites to track one down. You are better off driving to get one if you find one so you can save money. I’ve been doing a lot of research recently and if a dealer finds a truck for you the margin for profit is so much lower so they don’t want to negotiate as much. Good luck finding one if you decide to buy a new one.

The second best decision you will ever make is to remove the clutch fluid accumulator thing. I pulled mine off a couple days ago, and it was literally the difference between me keeping the truck or not. Makes the truck drive like a normal truck.

Read up on it here. Clutch Accumulator Delete

I think I know what your talking about, that sounds like something that is going to void my powertrain warranty though. The clutch in this truck doesn’t really have a definitive sweet spot to me it just grabs but maybe that’s because it’s a new truck?

You can’t get a 2wd MT. You can get an access cab TRD Sport or a double cab sport, off road or pro. All 4x4 v6 mt. Those are the only configs available with the manual. I had a dealer order mine. Took about 2 months to come in.

The accumulator is the cause of the weird clutch in these trucks. It’s basically an in line fluid restricter
