It doesn't get any better and you won't get used to it. And they won't know it's gone unless you tell them. It's hidden under a heat shield. Guess they would see it if they had to pull the trans or something, but it's your call. But I couldnt live with it like it was, so it had to go.

Does anyone know what purpose it’s actually serving?

If you like the manual, just drive it. Some here complain about it, I’ve found it to be fine.

Although, I’m guilty of looking into aftermarket clutches, perhaps if mine burns up one day.

Some seem to think it's another kind of "nanny" to prevent noobs from dropping the clutch too hard. One thing is for sure, it delays engagement. That's why you can't seem to get a solid feel for the release point.

Anyway, it's your truck... but know that this little mod makes a world of difference. Check out the delete thread linked in post #20. All the info you'll ever need is in there.

Have fun, and nice truck BTW!

Here's what is under my heat shield now:

If you decide to do the accumulator delete you can do the dremel bypass method. The dealer won't know unless they take the accumulator apart ;)

Nice truck man! I got 18 sport MT and i love it! My first new vehicle as well. Fun to drive and lots of power. 6th gear should be a bit taller, not good mpgs if not going speed limit on hwy. Another thing that bugs me sometimes is throttle delay when trying to rev match. Thinking to try pedal commander. Other than that i absolutely love and get excited everytime i drive it. TW community is great and very helpful as well!

I removed chinstrap and got trd wheels with bfgs KO2s. Derped chrome bezel around the grill black. Installed vent shades too. Get a lot of compliments.

    Good luck! :burnrubber:

I learned to drive on a MT. I grew up driving an assortment of MT equipped vehicles for both work and pleasure. And I’ll edit to add that while I do on occasion enjoy driving an MT equipped vehicle just for fun, I can honestly say that now at fifty six years of age, I have no use for one. I love the ease and convenience of having an automatic trans and wouldn’t want to go back to standard. Maybe I’ve gotten lazy but there’s a reason MT’s have almost gone the way of the dinosaur...

OV Tune for you. no Pedal Commander. but if you want to try a Pedal Commander before committing $700+ to OV, I'll sell you mine for a deal.

You think pedal commander is useless? I got no complains engine wise. Its smooth, doesnt jerk or hesitate like some guys complain about. Lots of power too. My biggest complain is the lag. How much you want for the pedal commander? Thx.

the PC literally saved me from selling this truck before OVTune showed up. hell no it's not useless... it was one of the best things i ever got, but it was a bandaid for the messed up ECU calibration i had with the original release of 04B12 code. if you're not having those issues then that's great. and if you are interested in the PC please PM me so we're not jacking the thread.

Why did you post this lol?

We're yapping with a guy who bought a M/T. We like the M/T.

I don't get it. Anyway, have a good one and enjoy your A/T :notsure:

Why wouldn’t I? It’s called a discussion forum for a reason right? I’m an old time MT guy and no longer have an interest in messing with one. It got old.

Different take on the presiding opinion. Should only opinions agreeing with the majority be expressed? Not mad at ya, just genuinely interested in your take on this?

Oh and edited to add that the guy I quoted asked: “... if you can drive a manual, why wouldn’t you?” I answered his question.

I agree that the mpgs at highway speeds 70+ are slightly disappointing, but I knew that when I bought this truck that it wasn’t going to get good gas mileage overall. I’m looking for smiles per gallon not necessarily the miles per gallon. We didn’t buy our trucks for the gas mileage expectations am I right? The reasons why manuals have gone away in the U.S. is because the majority of buyers don’t learn or care to learn. There are very few automatic cars throughout Europe for example. Personally a perk of owning a manual now is that people won’t ask to drive my truck or borrow it because they don’t know how to drive it. Also it’s become a theft deterrent for this generation of people.

I believe the new Ram did away with the Manual, but besides the Tacoma you can get the Manual in the Frontier, 2wd Colorado, and the Jeep Gladiator.

The Jeep gladiator is looking like it’s going to be a beast. The old trucks mopar made, they were rugged as hell. Saw they are going to offer a diesel option as well. Not a fan of the design cause it’s just a wrangler with a truck bed but, Lookin forward to the roll out to see how good it does off-road. I’ll pretend like people haven’t been mentioning a frontier or Colorado

I was actually pretty solid on buying one, but got sick of the lack of information and uncertainty. No pricing, conflicting roll out and availability dates. Blackout on any media with access to one until the mothership allows them to report. It’s a bunch of bullshit. I had cash in hand, was ready willing and able but when I saw what a dog and pony show it was, I said F’ it and bought the taco instead. Pretty sure it’ll be ten times as reliable and more than good enough off road for my purposes anyway...
