Hey has anyone else here has there truck making front end noise? Mine started at about 3 to 4 thousand miles, dealer tells me it’s the brake pads!! It’s mainly backing up and when turning the wheel! Sounds a lot like my old Mazda/ranger that I had when the ball joints where bad!! I just don’t believe it’s brake pad noise. Anybody else have this problem??

If its reversing after parking, its normal. It's a light film of corrosion thats on the rotors.

I’m just very suspicious of pad noise, and also foot not on brakes when it does it, it’s more of a pop really! And I just can’t believe we pay what we pay for these trucks and they make noises like this! Driving a new truck around and the front end sounding like it has 250,000 miles on it, just doesn’t sit well with me! And yes I know it’s a “truck” but no way it should be doing this with only few thousand miles on it!

My 2019 started making the same popping noises when turning from a stop in reverse or forward. I’m going to bring it up at my oil change appt in a few weeks and see what they say. Haven’t heard it with my friends’ 3rd gens.

edit: it started at around 7000 miles and currently at 9200.

Dil, is really like to know what ur dealer tells u about ur noise! And they told me it was pad noise without even looking the truck over or even listening to the noise!! I’m debating taking to another dealer to see what they say it is!

I’ll let you know. Appt on the 24th. Dealer will probably say it’s normal. Prepared to call BS and will ask to see if a new one has the same noise. Unfortunately the closest other dealer is 3+ hours away so I don’t have the luxury of going to another dealer for a second opinion.

long time lurker here and finally made the TW account to post on this thread lol. Researched around but only found 1-2 other threads for the 3rd gens.

I would bet is pad noise. Even my 2nd gen makes same noise. And it has the pad springs installed.

As @jetfishn said, dealer said pad slap at my first oil change. I didn’t know that term name, so just upon some quick searching it looks prevalent in Tacoma’s. Annoying to hear but it’s documented for me so moving on from it until I change the pads.

13,600 miles here and no similar noises. 4x4 v. 4x2 difference? TRD OR 4x4 here.
