    Hello,

EDIT: Changed my mind on the speakers and Amp based on what I've read on here.

I'm planning an upgrade of the sound system on my 2019 double cab. So far this is what I have selected:

    Head Unit: Kenwood DMX906S
    Fronts: Morel Tempo Ultra 692
Rears: Morel Tempo Ultra 602 Integra
    Amplifier: Rockford Fosgate T400X4ad 100W RMS x4 at 4ohms

I'll probably just add JL Audio ACS110LG-TW1 later since it's a powered sub and based on my research on here, with it's dimensions, it should fit in the rear passenger bin behind the seat. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13693334/JL-Audio-ACS110LG-TW1.html?tp=114

I'm not a car audio expert so should I just run new speaker wire from the amp to the doors or can I just use the factory speaker wire?

Thanks. I'll just use speedwire to go from the amp back into the dash so I can solder the wires to the maestro harness. Thanks for the input!

Following this...so to OP, curious why you changed your mind and went with Morels? I know kickers are low budget fav around here but I'm also looking at higher end options

Stitz, I think you answered your own question. Kickers are a favorite on here but if your looking for higher end, then kicker would not be the first choice. They ( kicker ) are fine for an upgrade from factory but just like anything else... there is good better best.
Been installing for 25 years peofessionally and people always ask what is good. Completely subjective imho. What sounds good to me might to you. I tell people to buy the most expensive pair of speakers you can afford. Higher end companies don’t charge for cheap quality. I always recommend finding a local shop and listen all different types of speakers. Boils down to what sounds good to you. Do you want an upgrade, loud, wine and cheese, bright, harsh, mid bass etc.
    Good luck

yeah I get that, and I know how easy it is to go down the rabbit hole of audio upgrades, home theater got me years ago. I guess I was more interested in what specifics the Morel seemed to offer to OP. Better lows, highs, clarity, etc. Its clearly worth it to him but Id like to hear more info to see if thats the case for me too.

I haven't been able to hear these in person unfortunately, I just selected these because of the reviews I've read. I could always just go with 6.5 components up front but if I have the 6x9's I may not even need to add a subwoofer as reviews are stating the mid bass on the 692's are really good. I'm looking to have balanced sound and not rattle anyones fillings out.

Anyone have any opinions on the amplifier I selected? What drew me to it is that C.L.E.A.N. feature so initial set up is easy. After install I'd just take the car to a professional to have it tuned.

I’m curious about the JL powerwedge powered sub. I have a 2nd Gen double cab Tacoma, but would love it if this would fit behind the seats as well. You think it’ll fit in the bins without even having to remove the plastic .? Does anyone know if it would fit in a second gen bins ? This just seems like a perfect solution. But of course crutchfield never says it’s compatible with my vehicle. Makes me wonder how many things actually would be. So hard finding a powered sub like this to fit. And these things have like 400 watts !! Trying to do this vs like a kicker hideaway

Old Man $538.00 Sound System Upgrade w/Kicker DS in the doors, and a Cerwin Vega VPAS10 powered (10") sub under the drivers seat.
To the OP, if you are going to spend all of that money on a HU, amp and top shelf speakers, you need to seriously consider sound deadening AND you will absolutely need a sub. Leaving the doors naked in these trucks will leave you 100% disappointed. Every single time.

If you are willing to consider a powered sub, then the VPAS12 by Cerwin Vega is amazing but wont quite fit under the drivers seat unless you space the seat up. The VPAS10 (that I am running) DOES fit under the seat and 100% blows the kicker hideaway (8") out of the water. According to the Cerwin Vega guy I spoke to this week, the 12" blows the 10" out of the water. The VPAS10 is 200w RMS and sound absolutely AMAZING in my 2018 under the drivers seat.

You can check my thread out on my $538.00 system upgrade if you want, but if you are dead set on an amp, HU and speakers, don't short change yourself by thinking you will be happy without a sub, or sound deadening.
