Hey everyone this is my first post on tw. This is my 3rd gen on OME 3in lift on Nitto Terra grapplers 285/70/17. I had no issues what so ever with rubbing. Just took plastic flaps off and thats it. My wheels are -12 offset so I’m sure that comes into play. When I drive over bumps I do feel a “clank” and I’m sure it’s the passenger side tire hitting the shock a bit. So I will be spacing them out with 1.5” Spider trax spacers.

What is the width of your rim? With the spacers you might end up rubbing while on pavement. You probably rub currently at specific points in turning radius under specific compression

you think so??? Wheels are 17x9. Not too experienced since this is my first truck/project. Just came out of a german car phase.. if I had to judge just by looking at it I believe it i have plenty of space in there for the spacers. With your comment I should get a 1 inch spacers rather then 1.5.

It really depends what you are doing with your truck but I don't hear of too many guys not rubbing with 285s and your wheel size is as common as it gets with 17x9 so if i were you I would test the truck at different articulation levels to make sure you actually aren't rubbing before getting the spacers.

How does the tire hit the shock? It is inside the coil.
Also, have you driven off-road with it yet with ruts and camber? Report back after.

I definitely meant the tire hits Coils not shock. It is a rub when hitting bumps only. But it is very noticeable. I got the tires mounted on yesterday and scheduled for an alignment tomorrow, see if that makes a difference.
I plan on climbing a bit next weekend when I drive up to New Hampshire

Honestly Should have done more research myself. After installing the lift I went straight to townfair tire ans these are the tires and rima they recommended for what I was looking for.

Hey @Thetacosr5 I was reading your post and was thinking you might need to check the sway bar location to the skid plate mount. Its just a thought bc I recently installed the Fox 3in lift and had to drop the mount down to clear my sway bar. Mine did come with a sway bar relocation bracket though so not sure on your setup but figured I would try to help

I doubt it's your tires. A spacer (any spacer) will make any rubbing worse. The clank is probably either your swaybar (get a swaybar relocation bracket to fix, remove the swaybar to test) or your UCA (if they're stock) rubbing on the coil. If that's the case then get aftermarket UCAs to fix.

33s and no CMC isn't that big of a deal. I'm running 2" of lift, 33s, and no CMC. As mention, if you go beyond that, you will likely start to run in to the need for a CMC or a Cab Mount Relocation.

@calebc the relocation bracket may actually make the noise worse depending on where the sway bar is sitting now. As I said my sway bar, once relocated for the lift, was actually very close to the skid plate mount brackets located right under the front part of the sway bar. If that is the case they do offer spacers to drop the skid plate brackets down to allow full clearance of the sway bar under load or hitting bumps. I have read a lot of people take the sway bar out but mostly based on personal preference and I wanted to keep mine so opted to drop the mounts for the skid plate. There are 7 bolts on the brackets and a 1/2in spacer should give ample clearance and remedy this issue if it is the sway bar.:fistbump:
