I'm wondering if anyone knows the specifics of the JBL 6x9's and 6x6's?? My dealership was lazy and did not give me any info on the sound system.

Just Upgraded the head unit to the Stinger Halo 10 and also the Sub to a Rockford Fosgate. The sound is 100% better.

So wondering if I need to change out the door speakers.

    TIA

You just swapped out the sub and used the same JBL amp? 4ohm? 2ohm? which sub?

My Gen2 had 6" in the rear doors, swapped those for Focal 2 ways. I put Focal separate 6x9's in the front doors and mounted the Focal tweeters in the stock location. I was considering doing the same to my 2019. (I think I have that order correct, 6x9 front, 6" rear but it's been about a year, so I could have that reversed.)

I'm not that sophisticated and don't know the difference between 2ohm and 4 ohm.

But to the earlier question, I did just reuse my original JBL Amp and even the box.

i did not want to do a complete rehaul of the wiring.

    It sounds great.

This is the exact thread that I followed to do the Rockford Sub the way I did it.

    Thank you.

Would you mind taking more pics around the head unit bezel from the sides? I like the setup and potentially would want this in place of my JBL. Thanks!

The Stinger Head Unit is expensive but well worth it.

I just put the Sony AV8100 in my Gen2 for my son, I was seriously considering the Stinger but didn't know a lot about them. Sure looks great in the Gen3. I think the Stinger has wireless Apple Car Play and Android Audio, is that right?

I'm going to pour over that JBL thread and get caught up on what all the cool kids are doing to their JBL Gen3 systems.

    Thanks for sharing your install/updates.

Apple Car Play and Android are both wired for some reason.

    Still has bluetooth obviously.

I think my only complaint is the time it takes to power up when starting the car. But good things are worth the wait.

    More photos.

The You Tubers who installed the Stinger Halo 10 do a great job of showing how this aftermarket radio fits better than OEM.

Super easy install and well worth the $$.

I didn't want to pull the JBL out of my Gen3 and deal with a less than OEM fit. It's great to see the Stinger fits so well. I had the 10" Joying Head Unit in my Gen2 and just pulled it out because I'm giving the truck to my 16 year old. I don't want him having to deal with it's quirks. The Joying with the supplied bezel fit really well in the Gen2. I replaced it with the Sony and compared to the Joying, it fits horribly. HORRIBLY - giant gap at the top of the deck, I will whip up an ABS filler plate to address that.

I'm starting to piece together a list of speakers for the Gen3. Thank you for sharing your install.

I purchased but haven't installed the JBL GX628 6.5's and a Kicker CSC693 6x9's because folks on here had installed them on Gen 3. BUT, I think they had the standard JBL's so trying to figure out if the "JBL Premium" speakers which JBL itself says is only 1-step up from standard are good enough for me.

I purchased my truck used so I'm not sur which JBL system I have! All I know is that it reads "JBL" on the head unit, the speaker grills, and that there is a sub behind the back seat. How would I know if it's the standard JBL or if it's the 'premium' set up?

That is the premium set up. Standard (non-premium) didn't have the sub.

I just received the following from JBL re: our 2019 Premium packages.

The GX628's will be ok with the jbl. But those Kickers are a high ohm then the jbl supports. Might not work so well.

I have been lurking on other threads, trying to gather more information on what speakers work well with the stock head unit/amp. One thread stated that all speakers with the JBL system are 2ohm except for the rear doors, those were reported as being 4ohm units. I don't doubt the post from that thread, but it seemed odd that one channel would be 4ohm.

    **
I reread what you posted above, thanks for the clarification on the jbl speakers for the rear doors. I am about to hit 'buy' on the whole list on Amazon. I may run down to the shop here in town and see what they have. I like to support local shops when I can.

    Thank you all!

I'm pretty sure I tested them around 2 ohm. The post about 4 ohm was a crossover post to another forum discussing an older Sienna JBL system.
