Interesting, my GF just bought one, and the power is amazing. I haven’t even floored it yet, but around town off idle and mid range power is great. I’d buy one.

$20k for a used engine swap is insane! The mechanic shop knows it too!

"When she told the woman at the shop she’s going to take it to get a second opinion and possibly get it worked on by other people the woman told her that she shouldn’t do that because ”it’s super complicated because of the the computer stuff”. Get the vehicle away from this shop as quickly as possible. A more blatant scare tactic would be hard to find.

These Passports will be popular, looks better than a 6G 4Runner it's not BOF but how many people buy a 4R because it's BOF? I'd pick the Passport over the Bronco Sport and Equinox any day. Rav4 folks are probably loyal but unless you want the Prime, I think I'd go with the Passport. Honda put a truck style front bumper on their CUV Toyota can't do that with their trucks.

2 of them in 3 days. Nice. The 2GR-FKS sure is awesome.

It rides so smooth! Very car/minivan like. The new 4Runner rides rough. Like drive over a quarter and I'll tell you if it's heads or tails rough. Every pebble in the road is noticeable on the 4Runner. I still wish I had kept my 2020 trd or premium 4Runner. That platform is gold.

These engines are very sensitive to oil changes or lack of changes. Sounds like an abusive owner passed off a problem to someone else. I would want to know where they are getting the price for the engine.

Not for nothing , the way I see people drive now and treat their vehicles, it’s no wonder newer cars have issues . I leave very early in the morning and sometimes I feel like I’m witnessing an all out rally race . The crazy part is some of the full size pickup trucks are going 90 mph plus and weaving through cars like they have a ZR1 Corvette . Do they not realize that trucks have a high center of gravity and weigh 5000 lbs ? I guess not . Plus , people run not recommended oil , different filters , and I dare say 10 k oil changes . Is the oil good up to 10 k sure . Is it dirty hell yes . My Corolla has had 3 k oil changes since day 1 . ( conventional oil ) . I never beat on it , and take good care of it . It doesn’t burn any oil and runs perfect and I’m at 309 k . Even with all that mileage I would not think twice about driving it cross country. I really think if people didn’t beat the hell out of their vehicles lots of problems would not exist . So my point to all of this is when you buy used you have no idea what the other owners did .
