2019 Tacoma Sport Roof top clear coat wearing out

I have 32,000 miles on this truck and wash it regularly. Awhile ago I noticed some slight discoloring at the roof front by the windshield. Didn't give it much thought since the truck is 4 years old and the rest of the truck looks great. I got on a short ladder and did a wash on the roof as I normally do this week but not every time. The surface above the windshield felt rough like sandpaper. I thought it might be sap but I haven't parked under any trees. After things dried from washing I could not believe what I was seeing. The clear coat was gone and flaking up. I know the paint warranty has expired but has any one else see this on their Tacoma's? What would a auto body shop charge for the new paint job/ Pisses me off.

 

There's been a few threads on MGM fading. Make sure you call Toyota and file a complaint.

OP sorry it happened to you. Every shop is different so best to go bye and get a price in person. My guess would be a few grand.

 

Do you have an '18 or '19? My '18 MGM Sport sits out all day every day and is still good to go. Maybe something environmental?

 

No trees above the truck parked in the driveway. Every spring the green pollen coats the truck and lasts for a few weeks. I'm fearful the hood will start showing signs of clear coat failure. I'll talk to the Auto Body shop for a recommendation after he gives an estimate on the roof paint repair.

 

2018 my roof paint is gone. Toyota said I'm shit out of luck.
