I had a gen1 4.7 tundra before this tacoma. I drive my tacoma the same way i drove the tundra, and theres really no difference how the truck shifts. I don't have any issues when on the interstate with many cars passing me either. I can't understand why so many complaints on these trucks to.

I was reading the used market may be getting ready to pop, repos are double the usual rate, which will force prices to decline.

not any real market data, but I recently just witnessed two repos in two separate areas (I mention separate, because they used to do large stings at malls and apartment complexes). I haven't see one in years, I remember 08-09 that was one of the few boomin' businesses.

OP, did you call the dealer? I would get on that first thing, maybe show up in person, that price is insane!

    Update on the tacoma.

i reached out to the dealership and they said once I drove it off the lot, I am the new owner and there is no returns after that.

they’re more than willing to help with to do a trade-in since it is just a recent purchase.

will post a photo of the new tiny rig

This is where you shrug, and say “live and learn “, it kind of is what it is. I know I have done a couple of bad deals in my day, it’s just the way it goes sometimes.
OP. It’s not a bad truck, you just paid a little to much for it. Drive the crap out of it, get your money’s worth out of it, drive it until the wheels fall off of it.

OP, unless they do dollar-for-dollar on a trade in, don't do it! You'll be losing twice. I agree with @Gearheadesw - chock this one up to lessons learned and enjoy the truck for what you originally saw it as!

I didn’t think you were talking to me personally, but it’s a public forum where anyone can reply to anyone else. You claimed the Frontier’s powertrain was way better. I don’t agree with that, so I said why… to give the OP my opinion, as well as anyone else thinking about going with the Frontier over the Tacoma.

TTL can vary by state, and gap insurance can vary by driving record and carrier.
So 35K is hard to gauge. But here is an estimate from kbb.com. Right around 30K before TTL and insurance (from a dealer).
You can go to kbb.com and enter your exact specs and location for more specific price info.

I agree with the general consensus that you overpaid for your Tacoma. It sucks, but the Tacoma has a long history of being reliable. Regarding the truck being slow or sluggish, I would have to agree. Fortunately this can be easily fixed with the KDMax tune. I am in San Antonio also and the KDMax tuner in our area is @Phich. He just recently tuned my SR5 V6 and I have to tell you it is a night and day difference. The truck is completely different. Throttle response is awesome. Gear shifting is perfect. It is a pleasure to drive now. Hit me up in DM and I can give you more info.

That's a good looking truck with some nice goodies on it. Keep it, drive it, and see what happens. You can always trade or sell it later and get most of it back, these things hold their value like crazy! (Just sold my '19 SR for $36,500)

Hell yeah man I’ll look into yea. Yeah that’s the biggest bummer is overpaying for it but yea I’ll look into it. I’ve been driving it a little and I guess it’s not as sluggish as the first days.

I’ve purchased new cars that had issues and I’ve purchased used cars that were perfect for many years and miles. OP, fingers crossed you got a good one. If you did, it won’t feel like you paid too much. And your Tacoma will hold its value so you won’t take such a hit if/when you decide to sell it. Good luck!

I think the power train is better in the Nissan, just my opinion. Nissans are way under valued on quality I think. Not sure anything else on it is better, but they are pretty solid on mechanicals
