Hello, so first off I purchased this truck used from a Toyota market wholesaler. With that being said, I did not quite trust that they actually added appropriate fuels prior to my purchase.

I recently had a local mechanic do an oil change for me with Toyota 0w 20 oil + engine flush. This was on 08/08/20.

    miles at the time 42,636
    miles as of today 47,900

That accumulates to just over 5k. I maybe misled, but I’ve read threads here saying that this truck should last 10k + before needing another oil change.

do I need one now, or do I have to reset?

Most aftermarket shops don't know how to reset reminders. Don't stress it. Go by 5k services, 10k oil changes as per toyota.

The 5k service will trigger the light everytime.

I think Toyota recommends tire rotations at 5k, and (synthetic?) oil changes every 10k.

Thanks for your reply. Confused just a little bit. Being that I am over 5k from a previous service - is there actually something that I need to care of?

should I plug in a computer to see what the message actually relates to?

If your keeping the truck for many years do the oil changes at every 5k miles not 10k miles and since your close to 50k miles do the 50k mile Major service that is Recommended

Should I take the truck to Toyota for that, or is there a specific list of things I should have done?

    appreciate the help!

you can reset the idiot light yourself in the dash setup options.

Under warranty and the maintenance is free? I’d have dealer do it every time
