I have invested in good crimpers for all gauge wires, and I will tell you that some of them are stronger than the wire or any solder.

I do use heat shrink to make everything look pro.

Good crimpers are great but corrosion is a killer IMO.

I finished my installation of the tailgate lock. FYI most video's on-line show the two wires from the lock going to the passenger side (easy). I believe going this route only allows the lock to work with the key fob. I followed the Southeast Toyota Accessory Installation instructions and used the connector on the drivers side (hard). This allowed me to use both the key fob and the door handle to lock and unlock. Now I don't need to remove my fob from my pocket. Easy so to speak.

Wired mine to the passenger side. Locks & unlocks with the front passenger door, regardless of how it is done.

Not really, as yours unlocks with driver door. This is more desirable as others would require a double unlock press if using remote in traditional configuration. It also wouldn’t unlock with the stock door unlock, etc. it’s semantics, but I would have gone same route. I have just been lucky that it has been port installed on both my trucks.

I went with the passenger door as to me it's more of a trunk and should be a part of "every other door" group for unlocking, and not part of "driver door" unlocking. Ironically I have my truck set to unlock all on one keypress / driver's handle so it doesn't make any practical difference for me.

This was my logic to choose the passengers side as well.
(And I also have mine set to unlock all doors on one press.)‍

It is a factory option, your dealer can also install a Toyota one
    like the factory one.

Definite not standard for 2019. Did not come with my TRD Sport.

I looked on the options of all the models of the trucks. No where does it mention as a Toyota option. You would think if it was, it would be in a pamphlet somewhere.

The POWER tailgate lock is a port installed accessory added by Southeast Toyota Distributors and Gulf States Toyota Distributors. It is not an official Toyota part or install.

As I stated before, make sure you have the correct part number for what you want and that is what they are going to sell/send you. Confusing yes. Toyota and the 2 distributors need to fix the issue of similar/exact parts having multiple differing part numbers.

Edit to clarify POWER tailgate lock

99% sure all models are equipped with a locking tailgate.
However, a powered tailgate lock is not an OEM option on any model.
