That would be nice, I would like 2000 lbs payload, MT and 30 mpg. Not too much to ask since that is available elsewhere....honestly could give a rat's ass what it looks like, just going to beat on it.

Don’t know if they tested the Tacoma I couldn’t find any video on it. It’s my understanding the suspension between the two is totally different as are wheels and tires but I’m not sure. I know In markets they are sold side by side the hilux is cheaper and there must be some reason for that. I’m just tired of the mythical standard the hilux is held to just because everyone has seen Top Gear try to kill one.

I do lot's of stupid things with the truck on an empty closed parking lots (at night:anonymous:) and did exact the same turns at speed and the truck tires went in the air. :burnrubber:

PS. We are talking about 2nd gen here, haven't done stupid things with 3rd gen yet.

    Again.
    1. Better payload
    2. Cheaper
    3. Manual 4x4 engagement
    4. Stock Hilux is more capable vs stock Tacoma

It's not a mythical, it's a global proven platform that will not leave you standing anywhere. But all we care here is number of cupholders and android auto on the display in 2019 model.

And if it were sold tomorrow in the USA there would be 15 threads on hiluxworld of owners trashing the truck and wishing they’d bought a Tacoma or a tundra or a Colorado or a ranger or any other truck but theirs. I’m not saying the hilux is bad or doesn’t have a certain set of desirable features but this is America and we want what we can’t have until we get it and then piss on what we got.

Exactly, the next generation Tacoma will be a Prius on 35s.
People forget that initial task of the pick up truck is to haul things in the bed.
While we all can go and get a full-size for better payload, I don't need one, because I don't want to drive a limo on the roads.

Of course people will rant about it, but at least it will be cheaper (maybe?).
All Toyota needs to do is to bring best features from Hilux to a next Tacoma and merge them with the 20+ cupholders, huge grille and leather power seats, and we will have great truck.

The amount of cup holders is insane. Coming from my 01 where I had none, to the 17 where I can host a beverage party in my access cab.

I love this truck a lot more than I thought I would, and have no complaints. I do wish the frame was fully boxed, but it’s not necessary, it would just make it that much more awesome in my book. I don’t want leather, power seats, jbl, moon roof (really? Shocked were even talking about a truck here) diesel, turbo, high pressure fuel pumps, exotic lighting or accommodations for more people.

When my headlight goes out, which it will, I want to be able to buy one from a gas station and be on my way.

Gawd those Hiluxes are fugly. Worth the $17k not to be seen in one I reckon. Also that dumb nosey-nose they have is worse than the shnosh on the Tacoma. You’d have to lift the Hilux 6” to drive a decommissioned logging road or you’d be slamming into every water bar with the front end

Which would you choose? Seriously, if you could have either?

If the Ridgeline was fully boxed and carried 3000lbs, I still wouldn’t buy one. I guess I’m shallow.

One is a real mid-size truck, another one is brodozer with 1/2 capabilities. I do like the looks of the 3rd gen too, but it's not a capable vehicle for the price they are asking, but there are no other choices here either... so we are back in a Tacoma.
If you drove Hilux in your life you would not ask this question, you can drive stock Hilux everywhere, but you won't have 12 cupholders :(

Proper lights on that truck. I don’t see a light bar anywhere.

Spec for spec the Hilux double-cab model sports higher ground clearance (depending on package), and better departure angles. For the most part Hilux approach angle is also better when compared to majority of Hilux vs. Tacoma models, however the TRD-OR Tacoma beats the Hilux by a single degree on approach.

More than what some crap stock image can tell you.

I just wonder if they are replacing the entune system with something, anything better.

    We need more cupholders!!!
