SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Because it's not a $90,000 truck? I "need" this to have a V8 with a roots style supercharger on it, but it would be silly to expect it to come with it. I "need" it to have BFG KO2's and be able to fit 35's with no trimming or lifting ... but it would be silly to expect it. Expecting the engineers to have figured out how to get fragile disc brakes to last and not require daily maintenance is sill as well, IMHO.

The Tacoma will continue to be the leading seller in its class and Toyota will hold onto little things like this.

We can complain and say we want rear disc but the fact is, it’s not gonna change anytime soon.

From a business standpoint, it works. I highly highly doubt someone turned away from a Tacoma because it has rear drums.

But when we walk away from the dealer with our $42k Tacoma with drum brakes in the rear:

Come on man...we are talking about disc brakes here. This isn't cutting edge technology in 2018.

I honestly can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic. We are talking about wanting a very STANDARD braking system that comes on the cheapest vehicle they offer...

Excluding the supercharger bit, you just described a Hummer H2. Not that that's a bad thing. I enjoyed mine when I had it.

Too many but also not enough mods
Now it needs a turbo or supercharger

Just because YOU have no use for a snorkel doesn't mean nobody does. You're more than welcome to drive your truck around down here in Florida after a hurricane rolls through. Especially storms like we had the last 2 years. There's more than a little pucker factor involved while driving a non-snorkeled truck down the street when the water is up to your headlights.

Why didn’t you get a frontier with a snorkel?

The Engineers are gonna go with the company line, when they finally do upgrade to rear discs those same guys will be talking about how superior they are.

The Ford Escape? The Scion iA (sedan) actually has drums, too. Why? See the closing part of that link - dealers make $$ changing them in the US. No maker will piss of its dealer base by cutting into easy money. Why do you think the #^^-holes at Toyota made the front disc work requiring pulling off the hub on the gen 3? $$ for dealers to do the jobs that are too hard for most regular owners to do. The drums on the Escape my wife has are a PITA to change - the way they hooked the emergency cable on is just plain stupid. But ... a dealer has a special too for the job and you'll just pay them $$ rather than cut the cable or your hand doing it yourself.

The Ford Escape has 4 wheel disc, and Scion isn't made anymore. Try again.

So ... have we pretty well agreed snorkel = TRP Pro candy, drums = antique, mall crawlers < real offroaders, and we all love Tacos?

I'm 100% certain that POS Escape my wife drives has drums out back - changed them myself. It is the 2WD version, maybe that's it?

Does your wife drive the current one? Because that has 4 wheel disc.

Hers is a '15. And the Hyundai Elantra has drums out back for 2018. See - Toyota is keeping up with the Koreans!
