Every month or so my Tacoma is hesitating to start like the battery is low followed be clicking noises. Lights and everything work.

I the attach a mini power pack and it starts right up. Then nothing happens for a while.

Battery has been checked and is ok.

If you really want to know you need to have a volt meter on the battery while it starts, see how low it dips. If it goes below 12 the battery is usually getting tired.

If its an original battery its likely time.

Battery testers can vary in accuracy. But 5 year old battery and slow start? It walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, its a duck.

Who checked it and how? How old is the battery?

Also, let us know if there are any aftermarket wiring Mods. If the battery is good, something could be causing a drain where every month or so there are not enough volts to start.

If you have a Toyota TrueStart battery they are hit or miss. I had a Toyota battery develop a bad cell at 30 months. My wife's Corolla battery lasted 8 years before I had to replace it. In case you are still under warranty, Toyota did replace my Tacoma battery free that went bad at 30 months.

Voltage when no load doesn’t matter. You need to test it with a load . Usually if it starts right away once boosted it’s the battery

Hesitation means a new battery. If you get two or three years, you’re good. Go to Sam’s or Walmart and get a 3 year replacement, and plan on this through life of truck.
