Anybody know if the 2019 Tacoma V6 with automatic is going to include a fix for the problems associated with the transmission and emission systems? Consumer Reports is trashing the new truck!

I would like to replace my 2015 Tacoma V6 TRD with a new model but don't like what I am hearing about the 2016-18 Tacoma models with the V6. Willing to wait for the 2019 if factory upgrade is in the works.....anybody know?

Pretty sure they’re not gonna change the tranny on a new truck, you gotta wait at least 7 more years for that.....

I haven't had a single issue with my emissions or transmission. The bs about searching for gears and lag in stop and go situations.

As an engineer, who works in product development (for turf products) I can tell you that Consumer Reports is absolute garbage. Just about every product you search will have complaints about it.

I've never heard an in-real-life person say anything negative about the 16+ tacoma. It's a weird internet fad to complain about these amazing trucks.

Have you taken one on a test drive or just going by what you read?
I also read that I have an uncle in Nigeria that wants to leave me some money. Should I give him my account number?

Welcome. Toyota is selling Tacomas at a record number exceeding 20K/mo. People don't buy that many of something if it has problems.
Consumer reports is good for dishwashers and stuff. Not vehicles. Get one or not.

Agree, Consumer Reports owes their existence to stirring the pot. I used to be a big believer and user of Consumer Reports until about 10 years ago. Meh, their reviews aren’t worth a bucket of warm spit.

I don't really regard CR as a reliable source of info. If I recall, they described the Taco as being "tough as nails", yet they gave it an inexplicably-low reliability score.

And it's not just the Tacoma, either. They seem to judge vehicles based on the weirdest things. You'll see cars that get trashed/praised based on things that would be afterthoughts to most buyers.

I read an article the other day (I think it was an old Jalopnik article) where a commenter mentioned a review of a Chrysler sedan which received a poor rating based on its door handles. Apparently CR felt that they would be difficult to operate with one's arms full.

when people asked if i liked my truck and would i recommend others to buy one?
I would always say I love my truck*

*I hate the stuttering it does from a stop at high throttle. no do not buy one

But finally toyota released a fix for this problem so the "*" is not needed anymore. Although i still tell them not to buy one cause i want mine to be more unique.

In all seriousness though the transmission does have weird shift points for added fuel economy, i dont mind it but it really bothers some people. other than that i havent had any issues with my transmission, and i live in a very hilly area.

tacomas arent cheap, you could get an f-150 for nearly the same cost and get equal if not better fuel economy, wayyyy more power, and more towing capacity.
