Yeah... I thought he was trying to install the OEM tailgate lock kit, the subject of this thread. o_O

I don't know. I want to put a 12v power outlet in my bed. I have to see where to wire that up to the battery. I would guess running the left side of the frame is best and there is already wiring going that way.
I want it to use an air compressor for bikes. My Jeep had one in the cargo area and it was helpful. If my truck had the AC outlet I'd just get a 110v compressor.

That's the one! I've had that switch on my bed since I got them and the 2nd one went out. I love the lights but he had to send me a new switch about a year after install and now the 2nd one is down. They're plastic and I'm probably too hard on them (or the Oklahoma heat). Plus I love my cab switches. It's a problem. I think I'm on #7...

The wiring and everything is no problem. I just need to know which of those grommets under the passenger seat is the one everyone uses so I can wire the bed lights up to my overhead panel where the switch is.

That's my fault. I tried to clarify and did so poorly. When I search function anything with "passenger seat / grommet / wiring to cab.." this is the thread with a hundred hits and the folks in here sounded knowledgeable is all. Carry on

That's the grommet that the OEM tailgate kit uses. If you run your lighting wires through that grommet you will have to move your wiring if you ever decide you want the OEM power lock.

I'll be honest, I don't know what the OEM power lock is. Did certain trucks not come with the ability to unlock the tailgate when everything else unlocks?

Correct. My 2021 Sport did not have the power tailgate lock. I purchased the OEM kit and have yet to install it. Too damned hot lately.

That’s nuts! Why would they discontinue it? You just have to unlock your tailgate with a key?

    Yup, a physical key.

I ordered my OEM tailgate lock earlier today.

They provide you a way, the key, but if you want it to auto lock and unlock with the doors you have to buy the kit. I get it actually. On my second gen I never used the lock as I did not have any type of bed cover. Now, on my 3rd gen since I added a cover I ordered and installed the kit.

Like others have mentioned, no conflict with bed lamps and the tailgate lock. I installed both on my 2021 with no issues.

Were there any instructions you worked off of for the tailgate lock install? I have both to install on my ‘21 Sport and the lights seem pretty straightforward.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if it was different for a ‘21 rather than the ‘19 from the other post.

No difference that I recall, factory instructions are pretty good.

Just got back from a week in Montana and 2400 miles on the new truck. Cruises nicely at 85 on the HWY. My son dumped some melted ice cream on the back carpet so had the entire car detailed and ceramic coated. He installed the tailgate lock as well. Love it!
