2019 TRD OR Stereo Always Connects but Music Doesn’t

I have a 2019 TRD OR and from day one every phone ive had always connects, but music will only work half the time. Can make phone calls, see contacts, etc… but music via bluetooth wont even register every other drive. Usually need to shut truck off at red light and restart to fix. It’s a pain in the ass and I’m sick of it five years later. Does anybody know of a stereo update that fixes this?

It being a iphone problem has been ruled out.

 

Do you have more than 1 phone saved? Even if I'm in my truck and wife is inside it sometimes connects to her phone for music and mine for phone calls. Really annoying.

good point, I only have one phone stored and do not have this problem.

 

I’ve found it to be generally unreliable. I’m not sure if it’s the headunit, the phone, or the app (pandora). Using a usb cable seems more reliable, with the bonus of charging my phone.

Another annoyance is the Apple Music app insisting on playing some random song. Removing the app fixed that problem.

 

I've experienced a similar issue. I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with my iPhone itself. If I had installed an iOS update, I noticed for sure that music would not start my Taco radio (phone would connect, though), unless I start the music manually on my phone. Also, if I've used bluetooth music on my phone with another device (headset, speaker, etc.), then it will usually still connect immediately to my Taco, but not start music automatically. Not sure if what I'm explaining makes sense.

 

Don’t have a solution, but you can restart the head unit by holding the power button.
Maybe that will help avoid restarting the whole truck

 

Restarting pandora often fixed the problem for me.

 

I also have a 2020 GMC colorado and that head unit always connects immediately to my phone, so I know its not the phone.
