So having had my truck for little over a week now, I realized how much I like the TRD Pro grille. I would like to pick one up but I seem to have some uncertainty regarding the safety sense stuff. From what I see, I need to have a cut out in the grill to accommodate the sensors...but here's the thing; I don't see *any* sensors behind my grill now. I saw reference that things were moved behind the rearview mirror on the windshield; does that include the sensors for the pre collision warning too? And if so, does that mean for a change I can get the cheaper setup and not have to spend top dollar lol? TIA, the 2019 is a pretty significant change from my 2014 so this is a learning curve I have to work with.

The sensor is located behind the Toyota emblem. It's there. Look for some wiring.

Sensor behind emblem is a radar sensor. Camera in windshield is for pedestrian detection and lane departure

I just replaced the TRD OR grille with a faux TRO Pro grille: the sensor on the OR is behind that ugly “WWF buckle” oval thing in the middle of the grille; the Pro grille sensor opening is lower.

here's a thread with photos that should help you out a lot.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2018-trd-pro-grille-w-tss-p-radar-info-diy.530769/

i changed out my stock sport grill on my 2019 a few months ago. here's some of my feedback just in case you run into some issues.
if you're still on stock height with the truck, then you'll be going through the same thing as me.

i installed the sensor over to the pro grille and installed it as is. after reading through many threads, many have said that it takes roughly ~1 week or ~100 miles of driving for the sensor to "recalibrate". in that one week, you'll most likely see an error pop up on your dash stating the "PCS" is off. when that happens, you won't be able to use your adaptive cruise control. mine popped up everytime around the 4-5 mile mark of driving on my trip. when you turn your car off, the error code will disappear, but when you drive again, it'll most likely reappear at the 4-5 mile mark. again, that 4-5 mark was just in my truck, so i don't know how yours will react. after a week, i found that mine did not calibrate. after posting on a thread about my issue, a member stated that when the sensor is installed on a pro grille, it aims the sensor downwards towards the ground, opposed to straight forward when installed on a stock (sport) grille. the trick was the install a washer on the top bolt of the sensor, forcing it to aim the sensor a bit higher. after about 2-3 days of driving it with the washer installed, i no longer have a code (knock on wood).

some members were lucky enough to do a straight swap and not have any error codes come up. i wasn't one of them, but was fortunate enough to have a washer fix it.
i hope this helps. good luck!

It's there. Look behind the oversized Toyota badge on the grill.
