My 2020 sr5 has been great, no issues. All i can say was a buddies 2019 seemed to be reliable, but had some weird issues, maybe just related to being a trd. He has a nissan now, and all has been good again.

I had that motor in my FJ Cruiser and was very happy with it. And kinda like that 5 speed over this 6 speed.

We bought an expensive RV made in 2020 and really had some reservations but so far nothing has shown up.

I’m just kidding anyway. If you break down reliability of 3rd gens into each year, statistically one would likely be the worst, might have a tie of some. I wouldn’t put much stock into what that means in the real world though.

My first two Toyotas were just like that. Beat the crap out of them and nothing ever broke! Put 4,000lbs in the bed of my first one...try that with any other brand.

Other than the fuel pump and 3rd brake light seal, the 2019 toyota tacoma is more reliable than 2016-2017 models.

I had a 78 wolverine toyota 4x4 conversion, and several toyota 4x4 pickups after that starting with a yellow 79. They all were pretty good except not much power. You could really beat the crap out of them without breaking. So far my 2020 tacoma has been flawless. I've had nearly 1500 lbs in the bed pulling a 2k lb trailer no issues.

I saw a 4runner that looked identical to that a few months ago in North Carolina. It also had the raptor lights, white raised letters on the tires, and the same runningboards

99% of problems reported on here have zero to do with maintenance.

Recalls are recalls. They fix what’s not right. So after a recal everything is good. Without proper maintenance a 2016 would outlast a 2022

My 19 sport has 45 k hard miles on it . Got the fuel pump replaced (was working fine ) recall .
Changed the 3rd brake light ( no leaks ,warranty ) they Replaced clutch pedal , cylinder & linkage due
to a squeak , they did not spray some lube on it , they reengineered the clutch pedal , the other two were Toyota being proactive.
I’ve owned quite a few cars in the last 5+decades of driving , and the Toyotas have been
the most reliable vehicles . I expect my Tacoma to continue to outshine on all counts
all my other daily drivers .

And that was exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Apparently the only recall action on mine not addressed yet is the third brake light and my topper needs to come off to take care of it. I'll be doing that soon anyway. Thanks!
