I currently have a 2016 Taco 2wd OF, it's time to grow up to a real 4wd, and I am seriously conflicted. Especially with the deals right now.

ZR2: Running about $38k right now (with incentives). Has Apple Carplay, 8" screen, good on-road ride and great offroad capabilities. Outdated Interior. Colorado=bad resale, ZR2=good resale

2020 Taco OffRoad: Probably ~$41k+? Carplay, 8" screen, push-button start (yes, I love that option), Pano Camera. okay on-road ride and good offroad capabilities. Updated Interior. Tacoma=Great resale

Man, it's a tougher decision than I thought it would be. I suppose the question: is it worth the premium for a Taco. I'm in this forum, so maybe it is?

I'm an anonymous nobody in a small corner of the internet. I have no knowledge of you or what you like. I know nothing about trucks. Yet you are soliciting opinions from persons like me.
    Buy the Ranger...

We have bi-weekly comparisons of the taco vs ranger, and it's just Ranger hands down. Every time. For some people.

OP would have a better time using a dart board for decisions than us two.

    The wine isn't helping either.

Hmmmmm I wonder if a forum dedicated to Tacoma’s would be biased?!

OP, get what you want. Life is too short to settle. I got rid of my Tacoma for a Tundra. Again, life is too short. Have fun and enjoy!

Of all the midsize trucks on the market, the zr2 seems to be the least bad looking. So it's got that going for it.

I'm also not one to be concerned about resale. If it gets me home after I buy it, I'm tickled.

On a serious note I think that the 6x4.5" lug pattern on the Colorado is dumb as is the extremely low position the spare tire hangs down at. Chevy can keep their bulky shocks as well...

It’s worth it only for this forum. The rest of the internet can be cancelled for all I care.

Do you like modding your trucks? What does the ZR2 aftermarket look like?

When I totaled my 08’ even the wife said if I got another midsize truck, it should be a Tacoma, even if it cost more. Even a non car person knows...

OP the decisions already made for ya.

While we are spending your $; go off road, have the dealer install the speaker upgrade, pro headlight and tail lights, pro grille and wheels, lift, and leather. Ah hell.. have them do tint any pop-n-lock too...
