    True about the added competition, however I believe Toyota will still have a "wait and see" approach. People love tacomas and will buy them. If they see sales drop too much then they'll do a minor update to try to boost sales until the next generation. Likely by way of minor cosmetic changes and creature comforts. I doubt we'd see anything significant like that until around year 8 or so, which is 2024. Maybe 1 year sooner if sales plummet. Right now they can barely keep up with production as it is with both plants working overtime.

    ^100% the truth. They are just finishing the engineering on the solid front axle and rear disk brakes.

    Quite fair comparison saying the 19 has ALL the TSB's (um there's only one, the latest, they don't add :rofl:) while 16 has none ?
    :thumbsup::facepalm:
    Like I said earlier " Get the flash updates. That's all. ! " It's the only difference, period. Maybe I should have said common sense instead of illusion.

    Here is a list of all the TSBs:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/list-of-t-sbs-etc.562671/

    The flash update was a TSB for the transmission shifting/stumble issue (depends on what symptom you had). There were other TSBs like the howling diff, leaking rear diff, howling lower control arms, etc...there are other TSB's but I don't know them all please refer to the list. The ones I list here are the ones I had done on my 2016 (and as I said earlier my dealer refused to do the transmission TSB on my truck or a re-flash as some are calling it) There was also a national service campaign to replace the ac fan on some trucks and my 2016 fell on that list as well.

    Don't know if that helps....hope it does. As I said earlier I loved my 2016. First year models always have to work out a few kinks here and there I didn't mind that...had the same issue when I bought my Nissan Xterra after the first month they came out back in 1999. Great SUV at the time but it had a number of TSBs and recall work as well. Just got to address the issues as they pop up happens with any vehicle.

    Ok thanks! I received a recall notification a few weeks ago and it was taken care of along with an inspection. Love my truck and thanks for all the input and advice!

    Not a problem. Glad your loving your truck! I love my current Tacoma as well. The only "recall" type notice I ever received in the mail for my 2016 was to have my AC fan replaced. I wasn't having a problem with mine but did it any way as preventative maintenance.

    for the depreciation i would take now, I could do about whatever I want to my truck and still be cheaper than getting a newer truck. I imagine with me having 30k on the clock it'd cost me 10k to trade my truck in and get a new one.

    let's not forget the probably 4500 i have in the truck that i'd have to unbolt and take off so i don't lose all that.
