Finally got around to installing the factory bed lights on my Tacoma. The only issue is they aren't working and I am not sure what I am missing. Used part 84267-0C020 for the switch and plugged in the harness that was just below it to seemingly nothing. Popped out the blanks and removed the tail lights and the factory harness was there, plugged in no issue. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Idk what you're missing, I probably could have installed them myself, but Toyota installed mine when I took their tech packages. Mine will go on, and off with the interior lights in the truck if you open the tailgate when the truck is running, or go on when you open the tailgate with a locked up truck.

I am guessing you need a relay. I've read that some come with the relay and some don't. You can easily check this. There is actually a thread for this mod where all the parts are laid out. Sorry I don't remember it. I am sure you can find it.

I swear I remember reading this back in 2020 when I first bought my truck but the thread I followed for the install did not mention it. Thanks, I thought I was going crazy but I will research further because what you are saying sounds familiar..

I think I got a brand-new relay but it would probably cost more to ship it than it's worth.

Your Taco might be missing the wire from the engine bay connector to the cab connector on that Cargo circuit.

Silly question but is your dash switch set to off?

Edit-Sorry op, didn’t realize access cab had no switch inside.

It seems like access cabs are hit or miss for the relay but the switch is always necessary. AC came with a blank panel in the switches spot..

Switch in the ON position, verify juice at lamp connector.

Place ear near relay area, listen for relay "click" while pressing and releasing door open/closed switch. Do same for on/off on Cargo switch.
