I got my 2020 AG Pro last week, I’ve noticed the reverse/camera quality is atrocious. Considerably worse than my 2017 OR camera quality.

anyone experiencing this? I need to take it to the dealer, but I’m truly afraid they will say it’s “just fine”.

There is only one way to find out what, if anything, the dealer will say or do.

I hope it works out well for you!

It’s the same camera from previous models stretched to a larger screen so the image quality suffers.

There was another post about this as well. I put it down to the field of view, it’s so wide on all the 2020 cams (for the 360 view stuff) you’re never going to get a decent quality at the resolution of the head unit. You’ll probably be better off changing it to a 2019 tail cam and loose some of the 360 functionality if you find the 2020 rear view cam a problem.

Best thing you can do for picture is to use the split screen view. Image is smaller though but not as messed up. Yeah, definitely a step back imho and nod reason they couldn't stick a dedicated backup cam in there but the sonars are better I think.

are you sure it’s stretched? Looks like a wider angle lense, but they could have easily bastardized the image, but they wouldn’t get the rear quarter on the 360 if they did that. Without having messed with a 2020 myself, only looked at images online I can’t tell for sure.

You can still see well enough to not hit anything backing up or line up with a trailer. If you need to see further away in better detail turn your head around.

Yeah same here, went from a 2017 pro to a 2020 pro and was bummed at how shitty the terrain assist and backup camera are.

The resolution in my 2020 isn't great, but the full 8" backup screen makes up for the tiny 6.1 I had in my 2nd Gen.

Seriously. It's just to give you a visual what's behind you, not to record for social media.
Never came across a vehicle that I can't make out what's behind me.
Or simply, try cleaning the lens.

All the 360 view models have this issue, your back up camera is 2 camera so the resolution is poor compared to a SR5 or Sport.

The Rav4, and Highlander both suffer from this. But it works fine.

Extremely disappointing but good to know. Thanks everyone.

sad to spend $50k and get camera quality of the 2000s.

I’m not about to rip them out and mod it either, so I’ll just deal with it.

It’s sad to spend $50k on a Tacoma, regardless of how good the camera might be.

I'd be pretty AGPROvated too if that was the case (sorry couldn't resist the pun). Toyota's accolades have never been due to their technological advancements, they are a more of a wait and see and longevity of use > cutting edge. My wife's 2017 Yukon runs laps around my 2018 Pro. Shoot my 2007 Acura MDX has a better reverse camera.
