2020 AG TRD PRO Camera Quality?!

Here you go. And I already know what people are gonna say. Stop complaining! Buy a different car if it's that important! Use your mirrors and look over your shoulder like a real man! First world problems! It's not a security camera, why do you need HD?!

Well it's just sh1tty of Toyota. Our 2014 4Runner had a much better quality image. And the whole MTM looks just as bad. Not sure if it's the cameras and/or the screen but the whole setup is pretty terrible. And yes I saw this before I purchased but it wasn't going to sway my buying decision. The whole head unit seems to be really low-res which I'm not thrilled about. To my eye it makes even the letters look bit fuzzy.

So yeah just ranting, no ragrets.

 

That’s a super wide angle lens that’s causing the issue, there looks to be a button on the bottom left to reduce the angle, does that help? Obviously it doesn’t change the lense, but it will cut off the extremities and *might* make it look better.

 

Anyone know a guy who can get rid of the front cam triangle? It's not blacked out in hardware (with would be an easy fix) but it's definitely a software overlay that still shows the stuff behind it.

 

Just brought my 2020 home last night and the camera is absolute trash.

If I was Toyota I would be embarrassed to sell something like this.

 

My wife's 2019 MDX camera is head and shoulders better, very clear. I was disappointed in my 360 view after being use to driving her MDX around but having something is better than not having anything. I was thinking I might pick up some cameras from Acura and see if I could improve the image quality but I wasn't sure if it was the camera or the head unit. The MDX screen is about the same size I think...

 

I have a 2016 TRD OR , just bought a 2020 OR with Premium Package and Advanced Technology.

The 2016 camera has a far superior picture. My 2017 NV 1500 Cargo Van has a better camera than this truck, serious.

I found 4 cameras, 1 on each mirror, one in the front emblem, and one on the tailgate. Its impossible to have an excuse for this, the resolution is worse then a 1984 6bit Gameboy...… Ok its a little better.

I paid 34k for my 16 OR and 43K for the 2020..... I am super disappointed my camera quality went down. No exaggeration its terrible.

That's the turd quality I have too, doesn't matter if you do the UWA or the split view, its bad! It wasn't going to sway my decision either, but when you spend $50k on a truck, I would expect the manufacturer to put a decent (720p at minimum quality) camera in it lol. Oh well. Still love my truck, but it is annoying.

 

Does anyone test drive anymore?

 

Clearly, you cannot read. It was noticed by several of us, myself including during "test driving".

Dang I guess I’m just used to worse but the camera seems decent to me in my 2017. I have a 2018 Chevrolet duramax also and it’s a tad bit better than the Tacoma’s but it’s the LTZ tech plus package. LOVE the army green though bro. There is one at my dealership here locally and it’s got me drooling everytime I drive by

And honestly the camera quality is unsafe, I have better then 20/20 vision... i could only imagine if you have bad eyesight. I'm expecting some kind of recall or class action on this. If you cant do it right then dont charge us for the product. Truck otherwise is awesome.
