It’s not tinfoil hat territory when Toyota actually says they are getting your data and tracking you lol.
Turn your phone off and you’ll be safe. ;)

Everyone is hiding something. Or something or series of somethings can be interpreted negatively.

I certainly don’t try to do anything wrong but I don’t want people/entities/gov’ts actively taking time to scrutinize my purchases/travel/activities. Everything looks bad if they try hard enough.

I disagree. I chill at home and work from home and do nothing besides work and ride my motorcycle and work on my car. Nothing illegal or nefarious here.

Privacy is not about hiding something because you're doing something wrong or nefarious. It's just part of who we are. I thought the need for privacy was a universal human need, but apparently I'm wrong about the universal part. Maybe some people just don't need privacy, but ironically, even Mark Zuckerburg needs his apparently, given how hidden his home is.

My privacy is there in the form I choose. Aka nobody bothers me physically. I don’t consider privacy intrusive by someone monitoring my location or what I do because it’s done In the background, and I couldn’t care less because I don’t even think about it.

edit: no public figure has privacy. His home might be “private” but it’s really not as we all know where it is etc.

It’s not about whether you actually did anything wrong. But I’m not going to spend the time convincing you. If you’re not worried about it then I’m not gonna worry for you.

We each have a different levels of personal privacy we are comfortable with. We should be able to adjust the level of data collection the vehicles upload to the hive mind.

When I lived in NYC, my girlfriend, who was a different ethnicity than me, lived in a neighborhood where folks of my ethnicity were uncommon. During the 5 years we dated, I was stopped on the street on 3 different occasions for no cause whatsoever, spreadeagled against cars/buildings, and patted down & searched. Then permitted to go on my way since I was doing nothing wrong. Since I had nothing to hide, I suppose I should have been grateful for the efficiency of the NYPD & for being a sacrificial lamb for the greater good & welfare of the citizenry..

Really didn't have the time or inclination to be a test case for the ACLU. Based on my experiences, the whole notion of "doing nothing wrong, nothing to hide" is infuriating. AFAIC, the powers that be are very happy to use any excuse to invade peoples' personal privacy & civil liberties.

I've been in IT for 15 years, both civilian and military careers, so I'm definitely in several databases. I still don't want my truck telling Toyota about my driving statistics.

When you're in a neighborhood and you look out of place people get stopped. Whether you be white, black or brown etc. If I go down to a neighborhood in my Nova, and I shouldn't be there or I look out of place I expect to be stopped. Just like when I worked in East LA. I was stopped often and asked what are you doing here. Might not like it, but to a degree it makes sense.

So you think it’s ok for the police to stop someone because they don’t look like they belong? I’m not sure how you don’t see the issue with that?

Yes, I do. Most often someone who doesn’t look like they belong somewhere, doesn’t belong there. Not all the time but often. If I, someone who looks white, is wandering around in a gang territory that’s all black I would expect to be asked wth i am doing there. It makes sense to me that they would ask wth I am doing here

Looking at the title of this thread, this has nothing to do with the thread.

That’s a hot take. I generally support the police. But I’m not in support of them blatantly violating rights. If they didn’t witness you doing something wrong or receive a call of you doing something wrong then they shouldn’t be stopping you.

I really wish you'd stop talking. Seriously. Your opinions suck.

You have absolutely ZERO understanding of our rights or what they mean. Stay stupid, but keep it to yourself... because after all, you don't care, right? So do it fucking silently.

The real ignorance is in how you try to get your point across. You’re like the ones I see on Tv. You don’t have to like my opinion, you just have to hear it, think about it, then make your own decision. Yet, you just have an inflammatory response with zero substance.
I know exactly what my rights are, and what they mean, I just have a different view
