It’s not very hard to do, but I understand the reservations. The only thing you need is the add an amp harness from taco tunes. I’m not sure what all additional parts Best Buy will say you need but my guess is it will be closer to $200 when all is said and done. Just keep that in mind.

    Thanks brother.

I will look more into it. I saw a video with wiring and opening up that factory stereo and I said nope! lol

It is a lease so I don't want to mess anything up. Also need to take everything out in about 3 years hehe

:popcorn:I am looking to install a sub also. I was looking at the harness on Amazon just waiting on warmer weather and I may try it.

When I did it on my 2020 it was a lease as well. Don’t ask why, but I traded it in on a 2021...anywho, it took like 30 minutes to take everything out. It’s all plug and play. I did leave the aftermarket speakers in the truck though. Mainly because I had to take a bunch of other crap off of the truck and didn’t feel like messing with the speakers.

Hehehe, I hear you man. That's awesome. Same color?

That's badass, 30 mins to take out. I was kinda thinking to leave the kicker speakers in too but might as well just keep them now that I know how to install them.

Which amp did you get? Do I need to make sure it goes with my speakers?

I went with kicker CS speakers (6x9 up front and 6.5 in the rear), the Subaru tweeters people on here talk about, and the kicker key 200.4 amp.

I also ended up putting an 8” kicker hideaway sub under my driver seat.

Just to confirm, your truck does not have stock JBL in it right? I’m referring to the package that has the amp and subwoofer behind the rear passenger seat.

Nice bro!! We got the same speaker set-up. Kicker CS and the Subi tweeters.

Yes, I do not have JBL, Just basic TRD OffRoad w Tech Package. Standard shit speakers.

I think i want to just do the amp, leave the sub out as much as I love bass, I want to save more room and that rear passenger seat has some essentials!

You think just by adding the same kicker amp I will see a big difference in quality?

I want to get it done soon

Yeah. You will see a huge improvement. A note on the sub I mentioned though; i put it under my drivers seat (nothing was behind the back seats in the cubbies). Google Kicker Hideaway 8” and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s basically the size of an amp (and has an amp built in). Fits right under the drivers seat.

I bought an under seat 8" powered Sub. Spliced the rear door speaker wires from the deck.

Love it, and the Tweeter upgrade...

Not sure if it would fit a taco with power seats though!

Only thing I’d be hesitant if there is splicing into the rear speaker. The rear speakers in the trucks are severely under powered. I can’t say if that would actually have an impact on the sub itself though.

When I had the hideaway I spliced into my front speakers. Figured if I was wiring everything anyways, I’d avoid any potential issues with the underpowered rear speakers.

Also, it fit under my drivers seat that was powered. It was a tight fit, but worked perfectly fine without any rubbing or anything.

Are you still able to power the seat all the way down?

Good question. I can’t say for sure though. However, I did have mine pretty much all the way down.

In all honesty, I don’t believe the bottom of the seat actually raises and Lowe’s. I think it’s a mechanism between the bottom of the seat, and your butt.

Best bet would be to go out to your truck, raise it all the way up, and then look under it while you lower it all the way. Pretty sure I remember I found out it doesn’t even move though.

Nope. That’s really it. Basically same exact setup I had in my non JBL 2020. Kicker CS speakers, Subaru tweeters, kicker key 200.4 amp to push the door speakers and tweeters, kicker hideaway sub for some added bass (don’t expect this to break windows, but I was more than happy with it...and I only used it at about 50% of its power). Other than that, just the “burrito tunes” harness to connect the kicker key. You’ll need some exact 14 gauge wire to run power to your battery, some extra speaker wire to toe in your hideaway sub. door speaker harnesses if you don’t want to snip the factory wires. Door brackets. Crutchfield will give you the harnesses and brackets for free if you order the speakers form them, but it sounds like you already have those installed.

I would highly recommend tapping into the front speakers BEFORE the kicker key for the hideaway sub, not the rear speakers (the harness taps into one rear...I just cut that off and taped it...they also only tapped into one speaker but I tapped into BOTH front speakers).

I have the add a amp which I have a mono amp for my jl stealth subs. I’ve upgraded my car speakers to kickers and the tweeters. My question is: I’m thinking of adding the kicker key. Will I be able to run my set up that I have now with the kicker key harness?

Anyone know if this works for a basic 4 channel amp? I got one just to boost the sound of the 4 door speakers and don't want to splice into the wires either. I keep seeing people comment about Line Converters too. How do you know if you need one and if not, what is it for?
