Most of the rural owners cant and won't relate to the needs of city drivers. I rented a Lexus RX450 for a week and the adaptive cruise and lane keep were lovely in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. You can kick back and let the truck to the creeping until you get past it. I know this is meaningless to country owners but it's not only about you. The correct answer is for TOYOTA TO BUNDLE THIS as a tech or convenience package as I've said. If you dont need it, save the money. Not to offer it is plain arrogance by TMC.

Was merely making an example of separating the packages instead of the current you can't have item 1 without item 5 (when they have no direct correlation). So we have a comfort package, a tech package and an enhanced safety package if that makes you happier. lol. Why can't radar be optional too. I shouldn't have to have it just because you want it and you shouldn't have to be without it just because I don't. I

In reality the automakers and safety boards will put whatever they choose to on vehicles and we will either buy them or not. We get no say outside of the options they offer. Cheers

There's a $6k difference between like Tacoma and Frontiers. Be nice to have that money go to good use. I'm not with the "don't offer me anything more" crowd.

I suspect no lane assist unless they completely redesign the steering - I'm not aware of any such system for a hydraulic rack. Probably not a feature we'll see until a major update.

As far as the 360 cameras, at least it'll fix one of my primary complaints about my truck (not that I'll be replacing it). Why in the heck did they think we needed a backup camera AND rear parking sensors but nothing up front?? I parallel park daily in spots barely larger than the truck - a bit of a view up front (or even sensors) would make that much quicker.

    Lane assist requires electric steering

Sorry, don’t mean to be disrespectful. But to describe this as “lovely” reveals little desire to be driving. And “kicking back” behind the wheel is not the type of thought I’d like the driver next to me to have in mind.

Urban or rural, until autonomous driving has proved itself and takes over, it is our obligation to remain engaged and pay full attention while we are behind the wheel.

In Tacomas it's just a visual and audible warning. No nudges.

It really is "lovely". You can relax without being useless.
Until I meet someone who has never taken a hand of the wheel to do anything before pulling over, I tend to disregard the "full attention at all times no matter what" argument of driving.
In fact, not having to modulate speed frees up attention and brainpower to better situational awareness.

I don't need it, but as long as they're working on their tech, Toyota should do something about their Nav.
That shit is straight up embarrassing.

You are misunderstanding the built-in NAV feature on the Tacoma. It is NOT where YOU want to go, but where the TRUCK wants to go. Once you accept that, the NAV is spot on. You must be familiar with other vehicle navigation systems, where you get to identify where you want to go. I can see how that is confusing.
