I had to go back and watch the replay again to make sure he actually got out. Thought I was watching a snuff video for a minute.

The one thing I think they should change moving forward is require the staff in the medical car to wear full face helmets. Dr Robert’s was pushed back by the heat when he first went to grab Grosjean, he probably ended up with singed nasal hair...

Yep glad he’s ok, doubt he’ll be driving next week.

Hulk to the rescue again or does Haas have a back up driver?

EDIT... maybe Pietro Fittipaldi? Test driver?

Yep. He was crossing from left to right to try to get through traffic, and never saw Kvyat. He basically drove into Kvyat, which upset the balance of his car and headed him straight to the barrier.

    Definitely a racing incident.

My biggest beef was the type and location of the barrier wall. Why was it there, and why were they using that type of barrier. Those types of barriers need to be banned before the 2021 season!

Its rare to hit the barrier at the angle. A different barrier could have made things worse. We don't know.

I was at Watkins Glen in 1974. When I saw the footage of Grosjean's incident the first thing I said was, "the halo saved his life." I didn't like them. After a couple of cars bouncing over one another, I changed my tune. Now I am a full-on believer.

That Armco may have been some kind of temporary barrier that actually jutted out into what was supposed to be runoff area. But even so the speed and angle would have meant he would have hit something, hard, at a bad angle.

From the aerial shots there is a barrier on the opp side of the track creating a narrows right there. Agree, they shouldn't be there but it's a straight, they're not supposed to crash on the straights.

Where Senna crashed in 94 it was a huge run off but he still managed to spear into the barriers. It was concrete. His result was deadly.

You also have to remember that during that era cars safety was like 5th in line. Nowadays cars are much much more with safety first.

FIA data logger shows Grosjean's car impacting the barrier at 137 MPH and suffering 53G deceleration

After his crash the safety implementation in F1 was paramount to the FIA, many say his death started the F1 safety revolution. Headed by Dr. Sid Watkins, Senna's best friend.

Jackie Stewart started the F1 safety revolution. Read some history.
