Hey all, so I recently purchased my 2020 SR5 Tacoma back in August from a somewhat local dealership (50 miles away). From the beginning I have had nothing but a bad experience with Toyota and the dealership where I purchased the truck. Nothing against the truck, it’s exactly what I wanted but Toyota sucks to deal with for anything.

Anyway, I recently purchased some TRD headlights and did a BHLM to them so I removed the SR5 non LED headlights. Upon cleaning up the original SR5 headlights and getting them ready to sell and take pictures, I notice what looks like many clear coat drips and a rainbowish like oily film on the INSIDE of the driver side headlight. I literally put 2000 miles on the truck and never did anything to the headlights other than take them off the truck last weekend.

Now I’m debating. Do I take the headlights and try to sell them as-is for a discounted price and just eat it. Or, put everything back on the truck and make Toyota make things right. I have heard stories left and right about these trucks being rushed out of Mexico with bad QC. Here is a good example of something to look out for. So upset I didn’t catch this when I purchased the truck and I really don’t want to deal with the whole process with the dealership going back and forth waiting to have this resolved. Just don’t like the poor craftsmanship Toyota is putting out and don’t want to let them get away with it.

Take it that you drove with them .. might of been from the elements.that caused the issue . If your looking for a warranty replacement might be tuff to prove the defect unless there is a crack or something like that . I would just sell them at a discount or keep them as a back up if something goes wrong with the new ones . Best of luck .

okay, so I’m not the only one :annoyed:. Not sure what I want to do yet as it seems these SR5 headlights aren’t worth that much. So not sure it’s worth my time with the dealer and resale and whatnot. May just sit on them and maybe do a retrofit with custom LED. Who knows.
