I recently placed an “order”(see:paid a deposit for an allocation) for a 2020 Tacoma off road with the new LED headlights. My question is: are they worth waiting for? Are they really that much better than the stock halogen?

didn't the safety ratings get bumped up because of the LED headlights?

Yes, so glad I did. $485 dollar option I think. Love mine. Feel like I don't get as tired driving at night, and they're bright.

As someone approaching these in another vehicle, I agree that they are bright (and blinding and annoying).

I've only been here for 6 months or so. Some people here when you mention LED, act as if you are wearing a Maga hat at Cal Berkeley.

We have lots of Off-road models with LEDs here on our dealer lots. You had to order one?

Yes, yes, freakin yes. Cheaper than a proper retrofit, covered under warranty. Don't whine if you change your headlights and get a warranty denial. I've posted (mediocre) pics of the headlights several times, have a look. Tons of people will talk all kinds of noise because they dont have them/ didnt have the option/ who knows. They aren't the be-all, end-all and I dont claim they are but considering how horrible the halogens are and then you have to spend the time and money to retrofit... which is like 300 for anything worth it's salt.... or for less than 500 bucks and a full warrant you get this...

Parking lights with fogs (yes it'll do that stock.)

    Fog lights and low beams

    High beams

    Note, with the headlight switch:
•Off: the DRL C-lights are off when driving.
•Auto: DRLs are on and bright without the cornering light during the day, dimmed with corner light and low beam at night.
•Parking: DRLs are dimmed, cornering light on. Fog lamps functional by normal switch.
•On: well, that's low beam on command, so dimmed DRLs, cornering light, low beam, optional fogs.
••High beam makes the fog lights turn off, its intentional and a law in many states.

    So, yes, do it.

I may be a little drunk, please don't mind my enthusiasm.

I love the LED headlights on my Tacoma. The illumination they provide even on low beams is incredible and on automatic highbeams even better. They are absolutely worth the extra $500 both for you and for future resale. If you can hold out for them I would. I'll never go back to halogens.
