Oh man that brings back bad memories of trucking. Getting on I-80 heading pretty far east and the GPS said like continue 1300 miles... and you just want to die. Flat fields as far as the eye can see. So thankful for audio books :)

Favorite bottle is the one you bring.

I-90 from PA to WA isn't much better. At least Western Montana to WA is reasonably scenic.

I've done the drive non-stop from Cali (Sacramento) a few times. You just need lots of redbull and a pee bottle (kidding).

Also done the drive with kids and a trailer, but we stop around Ely - there's a KOA outside of town that's actually pretty nice.

Buying food in town is definitely the way to go. No need to cart a bunch of melting ice half way across the country, lol...

Unless you're coming from norcal, I'd say go 50. Much more direct as long as it's open over the Sierras, and you can always do 80 to reno then keep on 50 as it splits in Fernley.

Yeah best to avoid those big runs unless you like sitting in line more than driving.

I mean, it's Moab, so it'll be crowded on a tuesday, but why hit yourself in the head with a hammer and show up during Safari or something.

6 trucks is usually my limit on any kind of group run on a technically challenging trail. Just becomes a clusterfuck if it's any bigger and god forbid you run into another group that day (especially coming the opposite direction) when the trails are narrow and steep.

Rock therapy isn’t like that if you run the right trails and go in the right sized groups. At least it wasn’t for me anyway.

Each photo is the group that I was running with that day.

Rock therapy =/= EJS. I dealt with trail traffic I think only on TOTW and it was only cause we were dragging ass.

    I completely agree that running with a lot of trucks will be a cluster fuck like no other but let's be real;

not everyone will be able to go, and if they do, not everyone will go at the exact same time.

    What's more realistic is -

there will be a meet, with a handful of members, preferably at camp.

There could be others that will join the next day to run a trail(s), and said group will camp out. Another handful may possibly join that night, or even the next morning, and while some may leave, the second group will possibly go trail running, etc.

I for one, plan on making this trip. Worst case, I enjoy a nice drive to a place I've never been, meet a handful of people from the forum, run a trail or two and camp, and head home.

I do worse things on my days off.

For sure, there will also likely be folks who want to run different trails. Some might want the hard stuff, some easier trails, and other want a mix.

Then here will be he guy who breaks in the forst 5 minutes, and spends the rest of the week sourcing parts just to make it home, lol.

I’d love to do the one that goes into colorado, but it’s in the wrong direction for this west coast guy.

I'm taking this time to ensure that my 4x4 conversion parts are all up to snuff; would hate to break shit and get stuck.

Can't figure out if I want to buy new cv's and reboot the used set I have and keep as spares, or use these primarily and buy a new one as a spare.

If you’re like me, what ever decision you make will be the wrong one, lol

I would say run new ones, and keep the old ones as spares.
