Fun fact about black holes:

(nerd alert)

People commonly think that when a black hole is created, the gravity is so great that it immediately eats up everything around it and it's armageddon.

But gravity is proportional to the mass of the object, not its density.

Black holes actually have slightly less gravitational pull than their parent star because they loose some mass during a supernova (shit 'splodes).

So let's say our sun turned into a black hole (it's too small for that, buy whatevs). Assuming we survived the supernova, the resulting black hole wouldn't suck us in.

We'd likely just see something like this in the sky:
