There goes my weekend plans. Had the truck all packed up and ready to roll out after work. I was excited to test my new ARB awning and screens.

I'm wondering if it will be televised. What I read, only Nascar officials, crew members and driver's. Did not see anything about TV crew.

No doubt. NASCAR has to honor their tv contracts to get that TV money. That's why they didn't postpone the events. They NEED that money. The in-person attendance is just icing on the cake after TV money is doled out.

I'm with you on this. Blown way out of proportion, bunch of bullshit. Can't talk about politics, so I'll leave it at that.

Not politics imho... just idiots latching on to an overblown news story intentionally overdramatized for ratings.

God if I only had stock in Charmin and Purell.

Now I got no basketball and have to watch a race with empty stands...

Good. They can't risk crews and drivers getting sick. President making a national emergency announcement at 3pm today. We're prepping to wok remotely for the next two weeks. School is canceled for two weeks, too. Looks like I'll be playing some NASCAR '15 on the ol' PS3 to get my racing kicks for a bit.

I agree it feels like this virus outbreak is being blown out of proportion, but think about our health care systems. The idea is to slow the spread thus keep the impact on the health care system manageable. If the health care system gets overloaded, the death count will rise. I have read in some countries they are picking and choosing who gets help, who is just left to die.

if we don’t take caution, the points of contact will be insane and the infection web will be very very wide. We are not going to stop it, let’s minimize the impact.

and yes, no racing sucks, this is the time of year when I watch. Guess I have more time to watch Steven Kings The Stand, or Outbreak.

This is slightly off topic for this thread but I dont know where else to put it...

This "pandemic" fear just took another casualty and it was the one that really grinded my gears.

    Coronavirus just killed Sandjam.

What is that you ask?! Well my town rarely gets great music festivals and when they finally did it gets axed over a glorified flu bug.

The card was awesome this year... 311, Weezer, and Shinedown headlining... Skillet... one of my favorite bands ever was playing on the Saturday card... now they canned it due to fears.

    Count me pissed.

    See the whole lineup

Lots of music has been cancelled, again smart moves, reduce crowds. We are hoping some of our favorites do some streaming shows, we have one band we listen to multiple times a week on Mixlr, it’s been very quiet on my Bose lately

I said this in another thread...

Ebola was wiping out almost everyone it infected and they still had world cup.

Zika was killing people... in Brazil... at the same time as the summer Olympics

Life didnt get cancelled then... but society chose THIS epidemic to freak out about.

Numbers dont lie... we have 7 Billion people worldwide and only 10k have perished due to this flu. Seasonal flu has taken 10 times that.

I got the Swine Flu back in the day... I lived. Life sucked for 3 days... but I lived.

Seriously people... the odds are better to get killed by an Acme anvil falling from the sky due to a Coyote. Chill.
