A few additions to make me feel cool.
NASCAR took the 9 cars customs fender skirts away I guess. Dammit! Guess we are gonna have to settle for one of the road courses.

I think you’ll end up seeing a much better race at ‘The Lady in Black’

That track and Talladega are buck list tracks for me.

Anyone who has not experienced a weekend at Dega should really plan to make that trip. It is nothing like any other track when it comes to the overall experience. Every true NASCAR fan should attend one Dega race and Martinsville. If you can swing it you should check out South Boston while you are in the area for Martinsville.

About 12 years ago I took a group to LV for a race. It was funny when you compare how commercial it all is opposed to parking in a pasture that had cows in it the week prior at Martinsville and dodging cow patties as you walk to the track. You can really feel the history of the sport at that track. Vegas was what you would expect of Vegas. Not really NASCAR and more of a show for the new age fan.

The camping, parties and fans are like nowhere else at Dega. Not to mention just walking in and seeing how massive it is and the banking. I have been to a lot of tracks and was surprised at how overwhelming it is every time I have been able to walk into Talladega.

I’ve done Darlington 5 or 6 times and honestly wrote it off with the new package. My last experience (5-hour rain delay) was awful and watching 500 miles there helped me realize I’ll never do the Coke 600. I LOVE the track. I love the drive there. I get goosebumps when I walk into the place. It’s the perfect size for a speedway. The museum is solid, and raceway grill never disappoints.

I’ve done Martinsville once and it was neat. It’s on my kiddo’s bucket list and it was to be a birthday trip for him.

Absolutely agree. Talladega is a cultural experience unlike anything else. It doesn’t matter if a person is a fan or not, it’s their American duty to experience the Dega phenomenon at least once, preferably in their youth when they can hold their liquor and survive on minimal sleep.

I've done both Dega and Daytona and I can tell you it's a night and day experience.

Talladega is more homey and organic... Daytona had more of a corporate feel. We did the Summer race so I don't know if the 500 feels different or not but the atmosphere felt too created where Dega felt real.

Picked up our hauler yesterday. I'm going to insulate the roof and run some LED light strips inside then outfit it with tire racks, some cabinetry, and fluid storage. Gotta add a spare tire and fire extinguisher mount, and a tray for the power inverter on the tongue.

We'll get a stacker when we expand to two karts:

Long-term plans are to add some sliding windows, a roof fan, two disc-o-beds, and use it as a micro-camper in the off-season.

Looks like Finch got himself into some hot water......

    https://www.mypanhandle.com/news/ph...dicted-alongside-former-lynn-haven-officials/

Cliffs notes story.... when Hurricane Michael came through... one of the cities here... Lynn Haven... did a lot of fraud stuff with Fed FEMA money. The mayor...whom locals had feelings was corrupt even before then... did a lot of dirty stuff... she got busted fairly soon after along with other city officials and another big construction company. Finch and Phoenix Construction (his offices are based in Lynn Haven) weren't brought up until today. Looks like he had his hands waaaay too far into the cookie jar.

Truex and Busch got extra practice yesterday. It’s all field fillers from 25th on back. Cream will rise. Barring any surprising wrecks, we’ll see Gibbs and Hendrick up front. SHR and Penske seem to be playing catch up early in the season, but Ford is always good here.

This is a very “Atlanta” race so far. Best racing is 20-25th place and they don’t show that on TV. Kinda like stick & ball sports only show who has the ball or puck. TV misses a lot of action but it’s beautiful out here at the track. 3-4 wide passing by guys I don’t even know.

I was dozing off after the end of the first stage... Matty D running mid pack. I was literally jolted awake when they announced 21 moving into 3rd.
