    They’re putting in a bypass for the slickrock gauntlet.

    really good idea IMO. I felt pressured to move along last time I went through. 10+ rigs will do that...

    Still think I could have made it without winching!

    That fucker had me scratching my head. I will conquer it next year for sure. But with a fucked up rear end, and giving it my all, i was unsuccessful. I hammered down till the front end was off the ground. Lol. Gave it hell.

    @rob1208 @cbechtold @betterbuckleup can attest

    What's the Gauntlet? I've only done the trial once but I never pulled winch line or stacked. Did I miss something good?

    The new section near Alpine**.

    Wouldn’t be an issue going down. Going up is a little tricky for Jeep wheel base. A couple of perfectly spaced rocks...

    It’s where I broke my selectable hub trying to get through in a hurry.

    It’s not a side obstacle like the rock pile on Niagara, it’s the main trail and when I went through I waited on five vehicles and by the time I got a chance there were ten other people waiting. I hate wheeling when other people are watching waiting so I winched out after maybe ten minutes.

    Doesn’t help that the dust turns into talcum powder...

    I’m also making excuses. My brother in his FJ40 made it (throttling out) and I did not.

    Summer 2019 and I for sure ran that section. I thought it was optional though. Why would they add that section but close the old portion of the trail only to then add a by-pass? I have to be missing something here. lol

    The old portion goes through private property.

    Never been through slick rock, have camped on both sides, I was surprised when the state allowed the trail change and pebble installation when there has always been a right out way there. I was also under the impression that those were all forest service cabins, making any changes to structures or road all the more difficult red tape wise.. Any body here ever up Fordyce trail, I've always wanted to go fishing out there

    Anyone here have any local tube frame bumper guys/ shops? potentially looking for sliders as well. I do like all the BAMF stuff but a bit out the budget right now. Thanks.
