you can get there from 89, I did it on my KLR 650 with 50/50 tires. it is very rocky, lots of boulders, def need a high clearance vehicle with skid plates for sure. From the 89 side there is a turn off before or after the little truckee summit. its on the left hand side are you go north on 89. The road will take you around a dam, keep following it and eventually it will turn into NF road and take you on the backside of bowman. It was about 2 hours from 89 pavement to bowman, might have been longer it was a while ago. That year I did not have a car or truck, so I rode everywhere on the bike for the entire year. Bowman lake is a good time. I will go back

I went the weekend the snow first hit.
Was easy getting in and out.
Snow was just another 500' up and easy to find and play in.
I've been going to MET to play recently.
Going to Mojave tomorrow for a week or so.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good drive in the Tacoma or ride. I'll have to check it out. I ride a Husky 350 and have done trails near 80 and 89 -- Prosser Peak, Prosser and Boca area, Verdi Peak, etc.

A stock Subaru will make it to Bowman, you won't have any trouble.

Sounds like a scenic ride and a nice lake (from 20). For most ventures, I tend look for trails with a bit more of a challenge. Thanks.

Anyone got a suggestion for some snow wheeling on hwy 88? Nothing crazy hard just looking to go mess around. I’ll be in pioneer. So I’m sure I’d need to go higher.

So I guess I'm headed to Sierra National Forest this weekend. Anyone have any coordinates they'd like to share?

I was at Iron Mtn a few weeks ago. Hella snow around the Gondolas and MET is also right there. I’m sure you will see a thing or two to get into.
