Switching to OEM LED headlights were the best mod I have done to my 2017 Tacoma. The performance and the aesthetics of the headlights really made me reassured in the purchase. Also @daveeasa has a great product for those that prefer the simplicity of just doing a plug and play install with his wiring harness. I believe @Puppypunter does the harness for SR and SR5 guys.

It’s been a month since the install and everything is perfect not one single issue or complaint. I can definitely see a lot better with these. The halogen’s where ok but these LED’s are awesome. They provide just enough uplight to read street signs and I am amazed by the width of what is illuminated in your field of view.

Love to hear this, I waited extra to secure a truck with these headlights as I live in an area with a very dense deer population and hoping these help with side visibility!

Back of the headlight run a Phillips screwdriver down the slot and turn CE8DB536-8BB0-4F97-B8E5-04BA474FA55F.jpg

Quick unrelated question but when you compare the lens on the projector headlight to the led headlight are they the same? I just cracked a lens on my 2020 LEDs, I was going to try to bake and transfer a lens over from an older 3rd gen headlight since they're a lot cheaper to get ahold of one. I've retrofitted other lights before so I'm not to concerned about the labor.. Just wanted to see what your thoughts are by visually comparing the 2.

They look a little different but it could be optical illusions since the insides are different.

Can you somehow remove the actual LED's from the housing? I haven't seen the backside of the newer LED lights, but I wouldn't go baking your lights unless you can remove the electronics somehow?

I pulled the trigger on a used halogen/projector headlight off of ebay. I plan to take that one apart 1st and see how it goes. Usually you can leave all the electronics in there. The heat is enough to soften the permaseal to make it easier to separate but not hot enough to mess up what's inside the housing.

So the projector headlight lens what slightly different than the LED lens. There's some grooves in the lens where the high beam is and the lens shape is slightly different. I believe it would fit but the fact that they aren't 100% the same has me pushing off this project. On the other hand, Today I found a deal for 25% Toyota parts + free shipping so I was able to get a new OEM LED headlight (81110-04290) for $518 shipped to CA.

    Instructions came from slickdeals

    1. Shop for parts at https://parts.toyota.com/ (scroll down and enter a Southeastern U.S. zip code in the box next to "Your Nearest Toyota Parts Center Online Dealers", for example 35603). I checked out on the Serra Toyota of Decatur dealership page.
    2. Add items to cart.
    3. Proceed to checkout.
    4. At checkout, apply coupon code FREESHIP for free shipping on $75+ orders w/ $200 maximum
    5. Complete your order.

I know these lights are usually $700-750 a piece so this is great deal if you're looking to upgrade to the OEM LEDs.
