Hopefully it doesn’t come to me buying parts off eBay for a truck with less than 7k on it. I appreciate the heads up though man.

lol my luck is pretty terrible so it kind of makes sense that it could be contagious.

No idea about the pop or what would cause it. Hopefully it was just a one off event and all remains well. Glad it went back to normal.

Not saying it’s this but I felt really dumb one time by plugging in my phone to the usb outlet to charge and had no sound from my speakers. If the phone is plugged into the usb port at least with my truck, the Pandora and Bluetooth appears to work but has no sound. When I unplug the phone and use the QI charger pad everything works fine

I thought it was that from the start, so I removed the phone from BT and CarPlay, deleted user data, and reset the system. Then just tried FM radio. Turned to a station I know works. Nothing. Synced the phone back up to try CarPlay, no luck. Even turned on the system “beep” for button presses. Nothing. Zero sound from speakers. It allows me to do everything else (maps, texts, calls, etc) but zero sound on my end. Literally everything works except for the sound.

Maybe I’m just super deaf with a rare case of bilateral JBL hearing loss.

So no matter what the app you have no sound? Even when taking calls etc? That sounds like we’re missing something simple. That new of a truck the odds are against something going out

Bilateral JBL hearing loss has to be an alternative diagnosis

Yep, no matter what, zero sound. …except the door/seatbelt/lock beeps that don’t come from the audio system lol. So yea, no audio at all from the speakers. No beeps, music, static, pops, crackling, nothing regardless of volume setting. Doesn’t matter if I use the steering wheel controls or dials. No touch screen beeps, no am/fm radio audio, no CarPlay phone/text audio, no Siri voice, no voiced directions, nada.

That’s why I first figured it was a fuse. Checked the engine bay and under the driver’s dash. All fuses normal/present. Pulled the head unit looking for a fuse or loose connection. Nothing. Pulled the rear seat out and pulled the amp to look for a fuse. Nothing. Checked the connections and put it back. Nothing. Cried a little and rubbed the tears on the volume controls. Nothing.

The VA stated that “Bilateral JBL Hearing Loss” is not a disability and cannot be service connected hahahaha

    Mute button or somehow muted?
Do you have the nav/audio manual? Maybe search "mute"?

When this first happened, I pulled the books and started reading up. Nothing. I just flipped through again today and didn’t see anything. Besides, even if it were muted from a button, that would have been disabled/undone after the ____amount of various resets I’ve tried over the past few months. :(

Nope lol. Going to try another location near me. If I don’t have any luck, I’m going to take a drive to a Toyota dealership in Germany the week after next. Everyone says it’s super simple over there and no need to pay in advance as they directly coordinate with Toyota for warranty work authorizations.

Once this is all sorted out, I’ll post up with what was wrong, what they did, and how much it could have cost if done not under warranty.

…either that or I’ll get arrested at the border because they found my stash of plastic straws. Hahaha

    Update:
Took it to the local dealership in Belgium. The staff were nice but ultimately they were unable to diagnose the issue because they don’t have access to the tech specs of US vehicles. It only ran me about $60 to have them tell me there’s nothing they can do…which I’ll be forwarding to Toyota for reimbursement.

Next step…going down the list of dealers in Germany until I find one that has experience with Tacomas. That will be in a few weeks because of work. …but I’m sure will result in the same disappointment.

Time to drown the sadness in whiskey and ribeye. ::cheers::

I have the same problem no sound. Phone connects and even makes calls, radio displays stations etc but zero sound. My 2020 was stolen and this was how the dealer returned my truck. Has anyone else found a fix?

maybe one speaker shorted , this could lead to blocking all from working properly , perhaps unhook one at a time an see if it lets the others work , ,

I had a similar problem that turned out to be that the audio system thought that a phone call was going on.....all the time. That wasn't on my Tacoma but on my wife's 2019 Avalon. The fix was an update to the audio system.

These things are computers, and could get in a corrupted state. Even when performing a soft-reboot, doesn't mean everything is zero'ed out.
Personally, I'd try a hard-reboot, i.e. remove the 12V at the battery. Wait 10min, reconnect the battery.

Did you do it yourself or did you take it to the dealership?
