So I've finally rode my '05 Ranger to the point she's clapped out. For an upgrade, I want a new midsized truck. That leaves me the tacoma, colorado, and ranger.

I find the new Ranger is about as good looking as a Ridgeline (meaning its Fugly.) So, that leaves the Colorado and Tacoma and right now I'm leaning towards the 2020 Tacoma Pro.

For anyone that has got one, I got a few questions for yall.

    1. How long have you owned it and what are you opinions so far?

    2. Honestly, how much did you pay for it? (I know its expensive but it's a 10 year investment IMO so I'm cool with spending my money how I want to, I just want to know what is realistic and what I should fight em on)

    3. Is there anything that you don't like about it so far?

    4. What mods have you made to it?

    5. What mods do you want to put on it?

If you plan on redoing the suspension you should really look at the off road trim.

I've owned mine for a week. So far, I love it. I've just added couple little things. A glove box organizer and center console tray. I've replaced the interior, reverse, and license plate bulbs with LED bulbs. I've also installed OEM door sill protectors. As of right now, I don't plan on changing anything. That was the main reason I went with the Pro, so I didn't have to mod/upgrade the vehicle.

Cost depends on which region you live. Here in Montana, you can buy a 2020 Pro at MSRP. In California, you will typically pay a market adjustment price (nice way for a dealership to tell you we’re ripping you off because we can). These market adjustments can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. More so on the thousands of dollars side. Best wishes on your new ride.

The only non cosmetic mods I am looking to do is get some beefier tires. Leaning towards KO2s in 285-75R16 (I think.) They are 33"s that fit without having to cut up the wheel well.
And get a nitro gear upgrade kit to 4.88 to fix the gearing to what it should have been in the first place

i would say 'worth it' totally depends on your personal financial situation... however if you are going to mod the hell out of your truck the OR is probably the best place to start. i really like my OR truck with higher end suspension and interior mods.

however the pro does come with all sorts of little trim pieces and whatnot so if you just want to look cool and have the money, do it!

I've had my Pro since April '19. I love mine but like the other guy said earlier, I don't plan to do any major changes like suspension updates so it made more sense for the Pro for me. In the end, I think Pro is nice but many of the bells and whistles are nice options but it may or may not be worth it in the end. i'd take a hard look comparing one of the OR/Sports models and see the difference in options with the Pro. In OR, I paid just slightly under MSRP for mine, I also got a stick shift. The 2020 Pros definitely have a lot more options. Modwise, most of my stuff was cosmetic, LED bulb swaps in the interior, High / Low Beam, and license plate lights. I added running boards and a bed cover, nothing crazy.

Edit: One thing that drives me nuts is the door to the bed is not on the same locking system as the rest of the truck. You have to manually unlock and lock it. I know it sounds petty but it's one of those things that you've gotten so used to in any other car. I think this is a total miss on Toyota's part. One other gripe I have is the back up camera is incredibly crappy. It's not a very clear picture and you can't see very clearly out of it. Eventually I will swap them out for an aftermarket head unit and camera.

It's very easy and very cheap to add auto locks to the tailgate.

    1. How long have you owned it and what are you opinions so far?

I bought my the day before Thanksgiving

    2. Honestly, how much did you pay for it? (I know its expensive but it's a 10 year investment IMO so I'm cool with spending my money how I want to, I just want to know what is realistic and what I should fight em on)

MSRP pricing considering my "was" only 4 in the nation LMFAO. Almost $650 a month. (Surprising insurance is cheap for me!)

    3. Is there anything that you don't like about it so far?

PRO Related: No moving mirrors. No remote start. It's a fucken PRO and yet the steering wheel, E-Brake boot, and shift boot stitching does not match the PRO seats. Original Shift Knob (MT) is too big for my normal hands to grip. The digital gauge isn't special, no PRO effects. All Season Floor Mats does not cover much. The eagle eye video and front camera <- yes its new but the quality is crappy.

All Trim (MT) Related: 1st and 2 gear isn't fun when accelerating 0 to 30 MPH <- yes I know its a truck not a S2000 but shit its super annoying when a grandma is beating me in her Dodge Caravan lol. Phone charging port is junk. Audio volume knob sucks when you need to adjust your music. IDK if its me but my shit can't read text messages. Steering wheel design (looks too outdated).

    4. What mods have you made to it?

Dashcam. BRZ Shift Knob. N2 Remote Start

    5. What mods do you want to put on it?

Pay the damn thing off first lol

You can remote start it, as well as a bunch of other things with the Toyota app.

    1. How long have you owned it and what are you opinions so far?
Took delivery Nov 14. I'm really enjoying it. I had a '13 TRD Sport for just over 5 years when I bought this. It's a massive step up.

    2. Honestly, how much did you pay for it? (I know its expensive but it's a 10 year investment IMO so I'm cool with spending my money how I want to, I just want to know what is realistic and what I should fight em on)
Just under 48k with delivery. MSRP 47700. I also view it as a 10+ year investment. I decided on the pro because all the local dealers pricing on the TRD Off Road I wanted weren't under 44k, so I figured might as well just get the Pro.
Also, I have no port options added on, which helped save on the cost. The 5 other dealerships I was speaking too added over 3k to the price for crap like tube steps, bed lights, mud flaps and like $60 USB charging cables.

    3. Is there anything that you don't like about it so far?
Nothing that is Pro-specific or anything that I really dislike. There was an adjustment period, but I think having a small 200 mile each-way Thanksgiving road trip helped dial things in for me. It really was a pleasure to drive.
There's a lot of noise about 3rd gen transmissions, but unless you're one of those who NEED to launch off every light change, it's fine. It's a truck, not a 3 second car.

    Everything else is superfluous.

    4. What mods have you made to it?
Nothing worth writing about at this time.

    5. What mods do you want to put on it?
Planned are some 33" A/T tires. From my research, there's little to no rubbing on the Pro. Minor splash guard adjustments, which is nothing.
    Sliders next.
    RTT and rack.
Other armor as needed plus winch.
I don't plan on messing with the suspension until I need to account for sag. I don't have any need to lift more than it already is. 33's will most likely fit just fine.

If you want to do a lot of building, get an OR.

If you’re only upgrading tires, the pro is certainly worth it in my opinion.

    1. How long have you owned it and what are you opinions so far? 2020 AG Pro, owned for 2 months so far.

    2. Honestly, how much did you pay for it? (I know its expensive but it's a 10 year investment IMO so I'm cool with spending my money how I want to, I just want to know what is realistic and what I should fight em on) MSRP in Norcal (auto transmission)

    3. Is there anything that you don't like about it so far? Mostly small quirks, none of which are deal breakers but my biggest complaint is camera quality on 2020. Camera quality is abysmal which makes MTM system almost useless. Not sure if it's the cameras or screen, or both, but all camera views are very very bad especially the backup camera. Huge step backwards in tech with no ability to fix on your own. Lack of driver's side grab handle but soon to be fixed with KTJO4x4's handle. A lot of low-grade interior plastic that scratches easily. Not sure what it is but I'm really not a fan of whatever plastic material they have in here, gets marred very easily and just looks very cheap, like the top of the dashboard. Power seat helps but I still find the seating position a bit awkward coming from another mid-sized truck with manual-only seats ('04 Nissan Frontier).

    4. What mods have you made to it? Just a few small basic things: side steps, window visors, bed extender, bed mat, wheel spacers, some MESO accessories, KTJO4x4 tailgate opener in progress.

    5. What mods do you want to put on it? I do want a tiny bit more lift to be able to run bigger tires and different wheels. Following Eibach's recent thread to see what they do with a replacement front spring. Aside from slightly bigger tires and different wheels, not much else. Will stay mostly stock.

I think you should compare the OR and PRO features carefully.

If I could get a pro for 10% off MSRP and the color of my choice, I’d consider it. But I can’t so it isn’t on the table.

We only get that free for the first 12 months right? After that isn't it like $10 a month?
