BangosTaco is correct - remote start doesn’t work on the manual trannie. Neither do any of the connected Toyota apps (except Alexa), touch entry on any door, no start button, no JBL, and no crawl control.

WTF... Mine doesn't work like that. I find it very annoying. Am I missing something? Am I supposed to have some setting on or something?

If you compare it to a Honda and pricing the Hondas are so much better than what you can only get from a Toyota when you are comparing to tech and horse

Heck even a new Kia is more tech out than any Toyotas lol

    This!

Spend your money how you want. In the end, you do what you want.

I have a '19 Pro. It is really worth it. I didn't pay MSRP though.

So I'm not in a 2020 Pro but I am in a 2016 off road and I love it. I came from a '92 Mazda RWD b-series, and a 99' Ford Ranger 4WD (plus a Civic but we won't count that). It's night and day. The Tacoma is comfortable to sit in in long haul drives even without having power seats like you likely will. The audio system is awesome even though I want to do some basic speaker upgrades. 4WD system is great and even though I don't use crawl control I've heard awesome stories about how it's saved peoples' lives on icy, shit roads with no traction in the mountains. I know it'll be reliable for the next 20 years if I keep it that long and still have plenty of life. Spending 33k on it feels good from the interior trim, to the reliability, the awesome external styling, tons of modifications at my fingertips, and it's easy to work on if I want to do something myself. Plus this forum has tons of knowledge, should you need it.

Take your time test driving the vehicles you're interested in. See what you like best. Coming from a Ranger like you, though, it is the best vehicle choice I could have made.

I was going for a pro but my lucky day the lot by me had a 19 or with pretty much all the extras packaged you get heated seats / sun roof / better stereo / leather etc. so after comparing the 2 and the prices I went with the OR so I can change shocks and stuff without feeling bad about it. Plus I got a crazy good price.

I was in the market for a 2020 TRD OR. I ran into a 2019 Pro and it came out to be only a bit more so went with that.

2020 TRD OR DCSB - $42k after TTL.
    2019 Pro - $45k after TTL.

The 2020 Pro was quoted to me at $49k before TTL. Southern California.

What I really wanted was Apple car play. This was the biggest upset to me going with a 2019. Other than that, seat I'll adjust once and rarely move. Headlights I could buy in a couple years after the price drops a bit. Front camera and birds eye cameras are absolute dog poo poo - it's worse than an iPhone 5 to be honest. In low light it's not even usable. Other than that, not much more I care for.

In all fairness, they are all 3rd gen Tacomas so they have similar drive train, appearance, and versatility. However, for the '20 models especially the upgraded builds they all have noticeably having bigger screen, apple CarPlay and android play, power driver seat, LED bedlight plugnplay connector, LED and sequential DRL lights w/o mods, autostart on Premium packages, front camera mount easier on the new grills, power tailgate lock, drive a lot smoother just to name a few. If someone were to buy the '19 pro and end up spending $$ for the '20 update options, they will end up spending more money than buying a '20 pro which is expecting to come down to ~45-47K before TTL by the early months of the model year.

I like my 20 pro a lot, bought it at the end of october. Once I figured out the throttle, ( I drive in s-mode and shift "manually" most of the time) it made the truck perform better than it did in auto. Would have opted for the manual transmission model but the wife wanted an auto and plus my left knee acts up from time to time so auto made more sense. The 360 camera quality could definitely be better, but they are very useful especially in tight spots. When my tires wear out I may end up doing a slight lift to accommodate larger tires, but that will be 3 years down the road.

I’ve had mine since Feb 2019 and have appx 16k miles, price was $46.4k. Mods include Morimoto HIDs, husky liners, Rigid amber fog light covers, LED upgrades to All other lights (dome/reverse/license plate etc), Schrockwork three tube support rock sliders, 265/75r16 Ridge Graps, Rigid ignite auxiliary reverse lights (mounted into rear bumper). Main gripe is the transmission shift points and very weird powerband (all the power is from 4K and up) I’m trading mine in ASAP.

    My opinion:

OR if you plan on modding suspension.

PRO if you dont plan on doing any suspension mods for a while.

I went with OR and added a poop load of stuff. Ended up costing more than the PRO

    Have fun

You're probably missing the tailgate locking kit. It's a dealer installed accessory. Part numbers are: PK3B6-35JL0 for the DCLB or PK3B6-35JS0 for the DCSB/ACLB. You can buy it and install it yourself. It took me about an hour.
