Apparently I was wrong. I do care how much it costs. No way would I pay anywhere near that. I assumed it'd be $1500 tops

So basically they're just going to make our '19 and under 3rd gens look older...Will this be considered a 3rd gen or 4th?

    My .02....

    2020 Tacoma TRD Sport:
    • New grille design - Pro grill swap usually goes on anyway
    • New 17-inch wheel design - most swap out the wheels too.
    • Passenger side Smart Key entry - Pax door handle swap, easy not expensive mod.
    • Standard keyless entry - I got that on mine stock.
    • Power driver's seat option - Option? How much? Mine is mechanical and it doesn’t break
    • Chrome taillight inserts - hate chrome, most of us get rid of it
    • 8in touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto - Ok, improvement if it’s standard. Lots of great aftermarket head units to swap though that has that stuff.
    • Standard JBL audio system - last one wasn’t all that great. Lots of excellent aftermarket options.
    • LED fog lamps - definitely a lot of good aftermarket options
    • LED DRL and LED headlamp option - how much? BHLM with RX350 HIDs likely blow its doors off, diode dynamics switchbacks are great too.
    • LED bed lamp option - that’s optional? My 19 Sport has that stock
    • Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) option. - OK, How much? The back up camera does fine and the anytime front and back mod is a cheap easy mod.
Sure hope they don’t think they can get $40k for these.

You can get a top notch set, much better than the JBL for less than the $2400

Fitment and packaging, it is a direct swap.
Electrically you will have to make a jumper harness from main vehicle wire harness to new head unit. Also, you can use mic in overhead console, however these new units are tuned for the mic above driver.

pretty bow, fancy gizmo, bright colors, nice. Too bad TOYOTA did not do something meaningful like fixing the real fly in the ointment - a crappy gutless engine / transmission paring in the Tacoma. JMO.

And now, Motor Trend's opinion on the subject: http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/auto...ar-truck-gets-an-update/ar-BBTgTPF?li=BBnb4R5

Summary: More of the same. NOTHING to resolve the real issues that we discuss and complain about on this forum. Guys, I wanna' buy a truck, not a goddam mobile life support system for an infotainment center. Optional LEDs and better linkability. Give me a break. Buncha' shallow millennial engineers designing this truck...probably from their parent's basement.

"For Tacoma TRD Sport, a new grille and 17-inch wheel highlight the changes. It also adds Passenger Smart Key entry, chrome taillamp inserts, and new LED fog lamps. A new LED DRL and LED headlight is available, as is the new LED bed lamp. The new Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) is available on Sport grades, and it provides views around the truck for easier, safer maneuvering in tight situations."

Right, this is how Toyota "keeps up' with competition?? Raise the price for this - glad I plan on keeping my 2017 for loooong time

Poor 4Runner gets TSS update and 'maybe' the new infotainment. None of the cool cameras or LED updates. Sadly I may still consider one as I need an SUV more than a truck. All depends on the new bronco.

The Sequoia is a joke as is the Tundra.

Factory tailgate lock is an option in the gulf coast states.
