Anyone with a 2020 experiencing the taco lean? I know it’s a thing with most midsize and compact trucks and it’s been beat to death. Not trying to solve anything, just curious if the 2020s still have it or not. 1/4” thick spacer will fix it I know. Did a search and nothing for the 2020 other than maybe Toyota put a longer coil on the drivers side? If you have a 2020 and it leans show us a pic.

Yes, it has the exact same suspension as previous 3rd gen year models.

Hey I modeled my lift off your blue truck. I see you changed to cement. I unknowingly did the same, went from a 17' pearl blue to a 20' cement. Thanks for your input.

Looks good with the bronze rims. My truck just came in and the wheels should be here Friday. Gonna start with the lift from your BBP then upgrade to a complete system when I get the good outa the stock set up.

I love how my new Cement turned out with the dark bronze. I've gotten a ton of questions and compliments on the truck.

I put about 20K miles on that BBP truck with that lift and had absolutely no issues. I went decided to go with 6112s and 5160s on this truck. The ride quality was substantially improved over the factory equipment.

Do you recall how much you have in your new setup? Also did you adjust the lean on your BBP? I think I am going to since I have the stuff already to go. Hopefully won’t need new UCAs for the extra 1/4” on top of the 2” on the driver’s side.

I have a 2020 and I am aware of the lean but don’t even notice it.

My current suspension setup was $1280 to my door, the BBP setup was about $150ish. On the BBP, I didnt adjust for the lean as I used a 1" spacer with factory springs. I did account for it with the 6112s by using a .25" spacer.

Stumbled across this old(er) thread when I went looking for some advice about the rear end lean I just noticed on my new-to-me stock 2020 TRD OR DC SB. But I'm not sure if this is the same issue as the OP's.

Measuring from the ground through the wheel center to the bottom of the fender well the bed has anywhere from an inch to 1.5" lean toward the driver's side. This is with no load in the bed or inside and it seems to vary for no apparent reason. Both front fenders are always about equal height from the ground.

I used my Magic Creeper to slide underneath and take a look and everything appears to be completely stock and normal. No noticeably replaced parts (CarFax was 1 owner with no accidents). I looked again when I installed the remote tailgate switch and again, suspension, frame, everything all looks completely OEM.

I found this spacer that seems to be intended to correct the known "Taco lean", but it looks like it's for the front since it goes on the front shock tower. So maybe I'm experiencing something different?

I've attached photos of the rear (looks more obvious when you're actually standing behind it), all four corner measurements plus the front shock mounts just in case (also look normal to me). The measurements are (with some forgiveness for holding the tape measure and taking the photo at the same time):

    Rear Driver Side: 35.25"
    Rear Passenger Side: 36.25"
    Front Driver Side: 34.5"
    Front Passenger Side: 34.5"

As mentioned, the rear can vary up to 1.5" lower on the driver's side but never less than 1" lower than the passenger side.

    Is this normal?

FWIW it does pull to the right slightly going down the road and I was planning on having it aligned when I replace the basic car tires the dealer put on it with some ATs soon. Maybe I should have them do a four-wheel alignment?

Welcome any advice from the experts here and TIA!

Huh. So maybe it's normal? I feel slightly better about it. Still seems odd though.

Found a few recent posts referring to the "Taco Lean" here:

@oostroma mentioned that the lean on the driver's side is due to the fuel tank and battery being on the same side. I thought the fuel tank might have something to do with it initially but I measured it right after I filled up and it was actually about a half-inch less.

Overall that makes some sense though. However the resolution he mentions is the same spacer that goes on the front shock tower that I mentioned in my original post. I'm not sure how that would correct the lean at the rear. :annoyed:

I've had my 2020 tacoma for 3 years, and it never had a lean, or a rake. All the c-c tire to wheel openings are within a 1/4''.

Good to know And thanks to you both for taking the time to measure.

Now I’m back to wondering if something’s wrong back there.

I have an identical issue, TRDRed, with about a 1 inch driver side lean on the Rear. As we all likely know there are hundreds of 1/4 in spacer recommendations for the front. But it is far less clear on reliable solutions for the rear. I am not interested in another 1/4" front coilover spacer recommendation.

Anyone know of a reliable solution for the rear? Rear spacer block?

Do you know if it is the suspension or the body that is making it look like it is leaning? If it
drives good and no tire wear issues, why bother? Measuring up to the body from the ground isn't telling you what is causing it. Also, that is a static condition you are seeing, it may not be leaning when under power driving down the road. Unless your truck is having driveability problems, I wouldn't worry about it.
