Glad to hear that you like the tranny's new shifting software. I have a new 2019 that hunts for gears way too much. Looking fwd to a software patch or TSB for those of us who need it. Don't know how quickly Toyota will have an upgrade available.

OP, did the new seats give you a greater range in adjustment or just allow you to better fine tune your position? I'm also 6'1" and am looking to step down to a mid-sized truck, just haven't had a chance to sit in a 2020 yet.

It allows the seat to be dropped down further than the position of my 2018.

ill chime in, since i spent a week with a 2019 as a rental. wanted to basically take a LONG test drive. the reason I didnt buy a 2019 was the seat. I'm 6'1 or so and comfort just wasnt there for me. fast forward to the 2020, you get fine tuning on all settings. endless combinations; leaps and bounds ahead of 2019 and prior. so happy i held out for a 2020.

I've got no issues with my 2019 shifting, but do wish it had an engine with more low end torque and more power in general. Overall, though I'm happy with it.

OP - Glad to hear you, and Karen, are OK. You're a very lucky man, considering impact was at 55 mph. The truck protected you extremely well. That's great news for all of us.

Thank you for the 2020 write up.

That’s exactly why I purchased another Tacoma. Considering the impact, it was amazingly safe.

How much have you used cruise control at 75mph?

Karen looks glad the children weren’t in the van.

I did about 600 miles using cruise control on Saturday. It was much more well behaved than the 2018 cruise control. It held 6th and 5th much longer with no gear hunting.

I'm calling the new transmission firmware an urban myth at this point. The MPG numbers and other stats are the same

Has anyone compared the files between a 19 and 20?

Just downloaded my ECU file. It’s different than the 2019 cal ID.

On my drive to work this morning I set the cruise to 75 and paid close attention. My commute is about 25 miles of middle Tennessee interstates with rolling hills, far from flat. The truck spent 99% of the trip in 5th and 6th. No gear hunting or abrupt shifting. It only shifted to 4th one time on a hill steep enough to have an extra slow lane for semi-trucks to move into. Even on that hill, it was a smooth transition to 4th from 5th. There was no 6th to 4th to 6th to 3rd gear hunting like my 2018 did in its factory form. The truck pulls much better in 5th and 6th at highway speeds. I know in my 2018, with the factory calibration, 5th gear was pretty much nonexistent.

I'm with the others with this too. My 19 shifts just fine. I will say it goes a bit smoother with the ECT on,but otherwise I'm not complaining at all. I can agree with wanting more torque though lol

Definitely the best year so far. It’s from back when they were still hand-built like mine.
